Day 2 Completed
There were 404 players that returned for the start of Day 2 of the APPT Manilla Main Event ₱20 Million Guaranteed, with only 41 advancing to the third and final day of the tournament. One of which is Singapore's Sebastian Wong who bagged an impressive 2,365,000 and is the biggest stack headed into Day 3, where he will have his eyes set on the ₱12,970,000 first place prize and a PSPC Platinum Pass worth $30,000 (USD).
Right behind Wong on the leaderboard are Kean Wie Tan and Samuel Welbourne who both pulled in a healthy 2,055,000. Welbourne constantly gained traction all day without really having any downswings and Tan found himself grinding his stack most of the day until later on when he found himself on the better end of a few hands during the last level of the night.
Some other players that ended the night near the top of the food chain include Kenny Shih (2,040,000), Daero Lee (1,990,000), Filipino Lester Edoc (1,800,000), and China's Zebin Sun (1,775,000).
Other notable players that found a bag at the end of the day include China's Bin Zhang (1,335,000), Norbert Koh (1,295,000), Japan's Yuka Asaka (1,105,000), Yvo Molin (1,080,000), Day 1a chip leader Yuan Chao Li (500,000), and Tianyuan Tang (145,000).
The money bubble popped at the end of Level 18 when Thananat Therdtskoonrat was rivered by Qiang Xi, who hit trip sixes. All the remaining players were ecstatic as everyone was now in the money and guaranteed at least ₱118,000.
A group of well-known runners that made the money but did not clinch a Day 3 birth are Korea's Seung Soo Jeon (67th Place - ₱157,000), Sparrow Cheung (72nd Place - ₱157,000), Filipino Florencio Campomanes (78th Place - ₱157,000), James Mitchell (79th Place - ₱157,000), and PokerStars Team Pro Celina Lin (128th Place - ₱124,000).
Day 3 will start tomorrow at 13:00 local time, with 60-minute levels and a 15-minute break after every two levels of play. The tournament will play down until someone is awarded the trophy and is crowned the APPT Manila Main Event Champion.
The PokerNews team will be here to bring you full coverage of the Main Event and the High Roller tomorrow.
