2023 APPT Manila
With almost 50,000 in the middle to the A♦K♣4♠3♠8♦ river, John Tech moved all-in. He was up against Hyung Tai Kim, who asked for an exact count on the shove. The all-in was for 23,900 and once Kim let go, Tech flashed his J♦4♦ before raking in a very healthy pot.
In a duel cutoff versus small blind, Joseph Magnotti tangled with Saudino Macavinta. The latter already had 21,100 out in front and it was then Magnotti who jammed with the covering stack. The shove was for more than 100,000 and Saudino went into the tank. He reluctantly folded which brought some groans with it by the other players at the table.
Some 30,000 were in the middle to the Q♦6♥2♦8♦K♠ river when Richard Tolentino called all-in following a large bet by Oliver Duran. The latter tabled the A♦J♦ for the nuts and Tolentino mucked his 9♦7♦ before heading to the rail.
Duran leaped further near the top on the leaderboard, only trailing Siyoung Lee for the time being.

Thomas Lamb was aiming to force out Mototsugo Ando on the K♥K♠5♣6♥ turn but the latter eventually called all-in with the inferior stack.
Ando's 10♦10♣ was up against the Q♥8♥ of Lamb and the 9♦ river was a blank.
The Day 1b field has now reached some 633 entries and fewer than half of them still have chips at their disposal. Only 308 players remain while everyone else can either register for flight 1c or the Flipout SNG in which one player wins the entry ticket.
Takuya Inada was all-in before the flop for around 20 blinds and the table big stack Soohyun Baek looked him up.
When Inada exposed the J♠J♣, Baek revealed only his 10♦ first and left the second card right below it before the dealer spread the A♦ into visibility for everyone.
Inada made a set on the J♥9♦7♣ flop and Baek's combo draw on the 6♦ turn then failed to get there with the 3♣ river.
With the turn showing K♣8♥8♠3♠, Kelvin Choy checked out of the big blind and eventually called the button shove by Toshihiro Hibi for 18,500 into a pot of around as much.
Toshihiro Hibi: Q♦8♦
Kelvin Choy: K♠10♦
The 2♥ river brought no help to Choy and he lost nearly half of his stack.
