Steicke, Steicke, Steicke

David Steicke has turned into the one-man wrecking crew of this tournament. He just sent another player to the rail. Emanuel Bell opened for 5,000 preflop before Steicke re-raised from the small blind to 11,000. The big blind moved all in for 15,000, prompting Bell to get out of the way.

Steicke called, naturally, and turned over a monster -- {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. The big blind had hope with {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. Bell said he had folded {K-?} {Q-?}.

"Get in there with your king-queen!" joked Steicke on a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. "It's got hope."

"No way man. I don't get lucky with them cards." Bell was right this time around; his hand would not have improved with the turn {4-Hearts} or river {8-Hearts}. The big blind also did not improve. He's out as Steicke drags another pot.

Maksim Shuts Out Another

Maksim Shuts
Maksim Shuts
Maksim Shuts has joined the "Centurion's Club" after taking down a huge pot. The chips were in on a flop of {5-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades} with Shuts holding {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for the overpair against his opponent's {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the open-ended straight draw.

The turn was the {J-Clubs} and river the {3-Diamonds} and Shuts rakes in the chips to climb to 100,000.

Steicke Power

The David Steicke show continues. After firing 5,200 on the flop, Steicke sat in the tank before declaring all in against a short-stacked opponent.

The board read {6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Steicke applied maximum pressure to force a fold from his opponent.

"I had a pair, if that makes you feel better. Wasn't a big pair, but I guess you had ace-king?" quipped Steicke, as Stewart Scott gave Steicke the "thumbs up" from across the room, as Steicke climbs to 215,000.

No More Nordenstam

Cecilia Nordenstam Eliminated
Cecilia Nordenstam Eliminated
Unfortunately one of the starlets of the poker room, Cecilia Nordenstam has just been eliminated from the APT Main Event.

Nordenstam had called the 4,000-chip preflop raise of Michael Woo before check-raising all in on a flop of {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The move was strong, the only problem was that Woo had flopped top set with {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and insta-called to leave Nordenstam drawing slim with her {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

The turn was the {7-Clubs} and Woo filled up on the {4-Spades} river to leave Nordenstam to bid farewell. Woo now sits with 130,000.

Seal in Trouble

The other Emanuel in the tournament, Emanuel Seal, is rocking a stack of less than 10 big blinds after a preflop encounter gone awry. A player opened in front of Seal with a standard raise. Seal, in late position, re-raised to 8,100, about one-third of his total stack. His opponent responded by putting in the third raise to 20,000.

Seal tanked for well over a minute before finally surrendering his hand and preserving a stack of 15,000.

The Fat Lady Has Sung

Steve Sung Eliminated
Steve Sung Eliminated
APT Poker Pack member Steve Sung was just spotted making a hasty exit from the tournament floor, following his elimination from the Main Event.

We approached his empty chair to find out what went down and found David Steicke doing what he does best - stacking up mountains of chips.

Apparently Steicke had called with {K-?}{J-?} against Sung's {A-?}{5-?} and proceeded to hit something helpful on board to send Sung to the rail.

"He (Steicke) thinks this is still the bounty tournament!" joked Casey Kastle, as Steicke now sits with 204,000 chips to have nearly double the amount of his nearest rival.

Can Anyone Stop David Steicke?

At this point, we're really not sure. Steicke is carving up his opponents this morning. On a flop of {2-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} with plenty of chips already in the middle, Steicke had first action. He bet 20,000, then called when his lone opponent moved in for 40,000.

Steicke: {7-Hearts} {7-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Spades} {6-Spades}

Top pair wasn't enough against Steicke's overpair of sevens. The {10-Spades} on the turn helped neither player; the {7-Clubs} river gave Steicke an unnecessary set and the pot. He's up to 175,000

"Well, I might as well just give my chips to the chip leader and let him win it," joked table mate Emanuel Bell. "He might give me something later."

"A few glasses of bubbly, for sure," replied Steicke. The very next hand Bell tried to give his chips away, opening all in for about 20,000. Action passe to Steicke's button. He squeezed his cards and said, "Whaaa? What are you doing?"

Steicke considered his action for about ten seconds and then said, "I'm gonna lay it down." The blinds both passed, keeping Bell in the tournament -- for now.

Shuts Collects In Small Blind Battle

Action folded to Hien Tran in the small blind who raised it up to 3,600 with Maxim Shuts defending his big blind with a call.

They saw a monotone flop of {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and Tran led out for 3,600. Shuts then silently slid 9,000 into the middle to declare a raise. Tran decided to release and wait for a better spot. Tran slips to 40,000 with Shuts up to 45,000.

Akerblom Crippled, then Eliminated

In a hand that took almost ten minutes to play, Rasmus Akerblom has seen his stack decimated from almost 55,000 to just 1,500. He asked the big blind at the table how much that player was playing behind before opening from the cutoff for 2,900. The button, Kristoffer Myhre, tanked a long time before raising to 7,400.

That raise quickly cleared the blinds and brought the action back to Akerblom. He tanked for ages himself before moving all in. Myhre went into the tank a second time.

"Why go all in?" a puzzled Myhre asked. "Ok, I call."

"Good call," said Akerblom.

"Is it?" Myhre asked as the hands were tabled.

Akerblom: {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts}
Myhre: {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}

The board rolled out no help for Akerblom, {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {3-Spades}. When the stacks were counted down, Myhre had 53,300. Once Akerblom paid that, he was left with 1,500. That doesn't go far when the ante is 200. Akerblom was out a few hands later.
