Prize Pool Announced

Today's field attracted 120 players in total for a prize pool of AU$120,000. We suspect that due to a lack of available tables in the room that it was capped at this number.

The final table of nine players will be paid and will receive a minimum of AU$2,400 while first will collect an Aussie Millions gold ring and AU$32,400.

Lackovic Drowning His Sorrows

After recently busting out of the Main Event, Aleks Lackovic has taken his seat in the Pot-Limit Omaha event and is drowning his sorrows accordingly. He's ordered multiple Coronas and is slamming them back among cries of "lack of respect."

He claims to be up to his 9th Carona in 45 minutes of play and has now just shouted Jamie Pickering a drink at a nearby table. Look out for fireworks if these two get going!

He's started pretty well so far in this event and currently sits with 17,000 chips.

A Sticky Situation

Michael Guttman, during the Main Event
Michael Guttman, during the Main Event
Michael "Sticky" Guttman is another to take advantage of a second chance. In a raised pot, he moved all in on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} only to run into Dave Callaghan holding {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a full house. Guttman had complete air with his {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Spades}.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and river the {3-Spades} and Guttman reaches for his second 3,000 chip stack as Callaghan raked in the pot to move up to 13,000 chips.

Second Life for Mountt and Harvey

Two players who have already taken advantage of their "second chance" are Danny Mountt and Martin Harvey.

They were both all in against Bjorn van Bavel on a flop of {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and the three players tabled their cards:

Mountt: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{9-Spades}
Harvey: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Van Bavel: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Three strong hands went to war however the {8-Spades} on the turn gave van Bavel the straight and he maintained that lead with the {3-Diamonds} on the river. Van Bavel is up to 8,000 as Martin and Mountt both requested more chips from the dealer.
