Delaney Gets There

Aston Soon Shiong moved all in from the button with {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and once again Ben Delaney was happy to call with an ace as he held the lead with his {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

The first three community cards were an uneventful {5-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}. However the {J-Diamonds} spiked on the turn to the disgust of Delaney who stood and walked away from the table. However the "ooohs" from the table were a clue that the {A-Clubs} had fallen on the river and he returned to scoop in the chips.

Shiong is eliminated as Delaney is now up to 96,00 chips.

Boeree Doubles On Bubble

On the same hand that the bubble burst, our favourite Brit Liv Boeree was all in for her last 16,900 chips. Ben Delaney made the call.

Boeree: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Delaney: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Boeree avoids a potential splitting of 40th place prize with the bubble boy as she doubles up to over 35,000 chips to keep her fans glued to the rail on the feature table for a little longer this evening.

Hand-for-Hand Over Almost as Soon as it Starts

"That's it guys," said the tournament staff over the P.A. system. "You're in the money!"

For that to have been true, someone must have been eliminated. The unfortunate soul who was the last out before the money was Pam MacNaughton. She open-shoved from the button for roughly 20,000 chips with {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} and was called by Sean Keeton in the big blind, who showed {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. MacNaughton was unable to catch her ace on a board of {5-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} {4-Clubs} and was eliminated in 41st place.

Keeton is up to 120,000 chips.

We're On The Bubble!

We're now officially on the money bubble. With 41 players left, the next player eliminated will walk away after a long day with nothing but a story to tell as the remaining 40 players will be happy to know they are AU$2,520 richer.

Field Catches Two-Outer on the Bubble

We're down to forty-two players remaining in the tournament. With only forty being paid, we are effectively on the bubble. That was one of the reasons we hurried over to Table 23 when we saw a few people crowding around the table. Josh "JJProdigy" Field was all in with {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} against Michael Chrisanthopoulos' {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}. We're not sure at what point the chips went in, but the board ran out {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} to make a Broadway straight for Field and a set of kings for Chrisanthopoulos.

"See, that kind of stuff only happens when you're a bounty," said Eric Assadourian, shaking his head at the brutality of the beat.

"What?" asked a sheepish Field. "I had a pretty hand." His pretty hand netted him a double up to approximately 28,000 chips.

Topakas Springs Back To Life

Steve Topakas
Steve Topakas
Steve Topakas has quietly worked his way through today's tournament, so much so that at one point we thought that he may have been eliminated. However that couldn't be further from the case, as he just made his presence known to the room after letting out a huge roar when he sent two opponents to the rail.

After one short stack moved all in from middle position, Mark Attard moved in over the top for 43,000. Topakas had them both covered and made the call.

MP: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Attard: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Topakas: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The board favoured Attard when it fell {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, however a two-outer {Q-Spades} on the turn was all Topakas as he took command in the hand. The river bricked the {5-Spades} and Topakas eliminates both opponents to jump out to 103,000, much to the relief of the Topakas clan watching from home.

Delaney's Sprint Ends In Regret

In the first hand after the break Ben Delaney was on the button and had to literally run to the table in order to be seated to receive his final card.

When his short-stacked opponent moved all in from the cutoff, Delaney made the call with {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs} to find himself ahead of his opponent's {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

The board was not good for Delaney as it arrived {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Spades} to all but end the hand. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and river {4-Hearts} and Delaney is back down to 65,000 and ruing his sprint back to the table after the break!
