Action at Last!

Ephraums: takes down a sizeable pot
Ephraums: takes down a sizeable pot
In a hand just before the blinds ticked over, Brent Thomas limped in before Matthew Ephraums raised from the small blind to 275,000.

Brendan Edmonds folded on the big blind, Thomas reraised to 580,000 and Ephraums called to see a flop of {j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, which both players checked.

The dealer produced the {5-Clubs} on the turn; Ephraums led out for 350,000, Thomas raised to 800,000 but Ephraums snap-shoved over the top. After some consideration, Thomas threw his hand away.

Our Toughest Challenge Yet?

The action has slowed down between the last three players, as they simply toss the blinds and antes between each other with very little action - and so the game goes on.

It's always a hard day's night for the PokerNews Live Reporting Team but we are always prepared to tough it out.

However even our most experienced members of the team are beginning to crack under the latest challenge ... trying to block out the *NSYNC CD that's playing over the PA in the Crown Poker Room!

If there is a god, please ... spare us from this torture!

After Trung Tran paid off Brent Thomas' full house, he moved his last 985,000 into the middle preflop holding {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}, but Matthew Ephraums called with {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

Though both players hit on the flop of {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, Tran was finally taken out when the turn and river ran out {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

Thomas Is Not Brent Out Of Shape

Brent Thomas raised to 250,000 from the button and Trung Tran called in the big blind.

The flop was {9-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {9-Clubs} and Tran checked to the raiser who bet 300,000. Tran then made it 750,000 to which Thomas instantly moved all-in.

Tran looked in agony but eventually called.

Tran: {4-Hearts} {4-Spades}
Thomas: {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts}

The turn {7-Hearts} and river {K-Spades} were not the cards Tran was looking for and Thomas was rewarded for playing his house very fast.

Tran Takes One Down

On a flop that read {q-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, Trung Tran check-called a bet of 160,000 from Brendan Edmonds, before he did the same after a bet of 210,000 on the turn of the {q-Hearts}.

On there river {k-Clubs}, Tran led out for 350,000. Edmonds called, but mucked when Tran showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for a full house.

Blinds Are Up!

The blinds are now 40,000/80,000 with a 1,000 ante - this is also the last level that was listed in the blind structure.

The average stack is about 2.85 million, so taking that into account, it works out to be around 35 big blinds per player.

We're in for a long one, folks.

Thomas Doubles Up

Brent Thomas made it 175,000 preflop, Ephraums and Tran both called.

The flop was {10-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} and Thomas fired another 230,000. Ephraums folded but Tran check-raised all-in. Thomas made the call.

Thomas: {J-Hearts} {9-Spades}
Tran: {K-Hearts} {2-Hearts}

The {4-Hearts} turn gave Tran extra outs but the {5-Diamonds} river wasn't one of them and Thomas wins a 2 million chip pot.

Ephraums Takes Another

Edmonds raised to 160,000 with Ephraums and Tran both calling from the blinds.

{Q-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}

It was checked to the original raiser Edmonds, who bet 250,000. Ephraums called and Tran folded.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Ephraums led out for 350,000. Edmonds gave it up and Ephraums regains the chip lead.
