Hachem Makes Straight Flush!

It must be nice to be a World Champion, as Joe Hachem has just made a very impressive king-high straight-flush!

Hachem fired 800 on the turn and then 2,200 on the river on a board of {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{2-Hearts}. His opponent made the call with {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a straight, but Hachem's {10-Spades}{9-Spades} was very pretty and good to collect the chips. He's up to 12,000.

Karamalikis Chips Up

The Dong is on song!
The Dong is on song!
Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis has charged up the chip counts, now on 27,000 after busting one opponent and taking a chunk out of another.

Karamalikis raised preflop to 400, only to see Kelvin Beattie reraise to 1,300. Karamalikis four-bet it to 2,725, Beattie shoved and Karamalikis snap-called.

Karamalikis: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Beattie: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Though Beattie hit on the flop of {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Karamalikis' overpair stayed ahead all the way when the dealer turned up {2-Spades},{9-Spades} to complete the board.

A short time later, he managed to score more chips off another opponent after managing to hit trips with {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} on a board of {j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Dom Done

Dom Italiano has been sent to an early exit after squeezing to 2,000 over the top of a raise and call. His opponent moved all in and Italiano made the call with pocket jacks and found himself racing against {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

The flop was safe for Italiano but an ace on the turn was the end of his tournament for today.

Aristidou Takes a Hit

It was a case of "The Clash of the Titans" on table 21 when we caught Dean Nyberg, Peter Aristidou and Clonie Gowen in a pot with the flop reading {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

Nyberg checked to Aristidou who led out for 950. Gowen got out of the way and Nyberg called to go heads-up into the turn of the {3-Spades}, which both players checked.

On the river {k-Hearts}, Nyberg fired out 1,600 and Aristidou called after about two minutes in the tank, but mucked when Nyberg showed {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for trips.

Nyberg is now on 19,300 while Aristidou has been slashed down to 5,300.

Grigg Gone

We caught Tom Grigg, Ilir Beluli and another opponent with all their chips in the middle preflop as the cards were tabled:

Beluli: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Grigg: {a-?}{3-?}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The gamble almost seemed justified for Grigg when he made two pair on the flop of {a-?}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and stayed ahead on the turn on the turn of the {6-Clubs}, but Beluli pumped his fist in the air and screamed, "YES!" when the {10-Spades} spiked on the river.

"Good game," Grigg muttered before heading out the door. Beluli is now on 35,000.

Kaz Takes Chips From Brkovic

Aleks Brkovic raised it up to 400 from middle position and Kaz Jomeen made the call out of the small blind.

They took a flop of {J-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and Jomeen led out for 500, which Brkovic called. The river landed the {10-Clubs} and Jomeen fired out another 1,000 which Brkovic called.

Jomeen turned over {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a full house which was good as Brkovic mucked. Jomeen moves up to 12,000 with Brkovic slipping back to 7,000.

Oatsy Outed

After being seated next to good mate Paul Khoury, Andrew Oataway didn't get much chance to chat as he has made an early exit from today's event.

Oataway raised it up preflop to 450 from early position, and found two callers in the hijack and button positions, before the big blind popped it up to 1,600 to play. Oataway moved his last chips into the middle but was called by the player in the hijack.

Oataway tabled pocket queens but the hijack revealed a deceptive pocket kings. The board bricked out and Oataway was eliminated.

With a flop reading {8-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {7-Hearts}, Bruce Nguyen check-called a bet of 850 before check-raising a 1,200 bet to 3,500 on the {A-Spades} turn.

His opponent folded and Nguyen is back up to 9,800.
