Xen Xenofontos is the chipleader of Day 1A
That will be a wrap for day 1A of the Aussie Millions Opening Event. It's always an exciting time to be in Melbourne and today possibly took it to another level.

With the schedule clash between the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the Aussie Millions rectified, many of the bigger names have been able to participate in the opening event.

The field included Eric Assadourian, Emad Tahtouh, Tony Hachem, Jonathan Karamalikis, Matthew Pearson, "Toothpick Tony", James Broom, Dave Lee, Mitch Carle, Ben Delaney and Dean Nyberg.

The DeucesCracked crew led by Jay Rosenkrantz and Vanessa Selbst were out in force, along with Amanda De Cesare and Josh Budin of "The Poker Star" fame.

In the end a man, nicknamed Mr X for ease of communication, seized the day. His real name - Xen Xenofontos - sits with a mammoth 186,300. His closest rivals are experienced players Chris Chronis (147,600) and Tony Hachem (136,600).

In all 51 players made it through day 1A leaving 276 players available to return for the repecharge flight, along with the players eliminated tomorrow and any direct buy-ins. It leaves Crown well on target for their aim of a million dollar prize pool.

Join the PokerNews crew for all the action of Day 1B of the opening event from 12:30pm tomorrow.
