Feng Jiang Gets Served

The action folded around to Feng Jiang who completed from the small blind, only to see Bruno Portaro raise from the big blind to 1,000.

"Are you sure?" asked Jiang in an attempt to put him off. No reaction - so Jiang called and they saw a flop of {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

Portaro open-shoved for 10,000.

"Do you want me to call?" asked Jiang. No reaction - so Jiang called, tabling {J-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and grinning like a cat that caught the canary.

His face turned white when Portaro calmly revealed {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}.

The turn and river ran out {2-Clubs},{9-Clubs} and Portaro doubled up, leaving Jiang with a handful of chips which he moved into the middle a short time later with {a-Spades}{7-Spades}.

James Tai called from the button, taking a punt with {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and it paid off, silencing Jiang forever when the board was spread {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-?}{5-?}.

A lesson in humility from the school of hard knocks.
