Krmpotic Kerplunks Dix

Michael Dix has gotten beat up by the deck over the past couple of levels and the following hand will help illustrate how:

Steve Krmpotic opened the pot with a raise from middle position and Dix called from late. The flop came {2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Krmpotic check-called a bet from Dix.

The turn brought the {2-Diamonds} and once more, Krmpotic checked, Dix bet and Krmpotic called.

The last card off the deck was the {9-Spades} and this time, Krmpotic did the betting. Dix just called and shook his head in disgust as Krmpotic tabled {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts} for a rivered gutshot straight.

Dix mucked his hand and was left with just 15,000 in chips after the fact. Krmpotic improved to 45,000 with the win.

Such-a Dirty Turn

Jan Suchanek just won a big pot from Michael Dix in a hand that dropped Dix down under 30,000 in chips.

Action folded around the table to Suchanek in the cutoff and he opened with a raise to 4,000. Dix made the call from the big blind and the flop came {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{J-Hearts}.

Dix then checked to Suchanek who fired a continuation bet. Dix fired back with a check-raise, but undeterred, Suchanek fired right back with a three-bet that Dix just called.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and Dix checked, Suchanek bet and Dix called, beating Suchanek into the pot.

The last card off the deck was the {5-Diamonds} and another quick check, bet, call sequence took us to the showdown:

Suchanek: {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Dix: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

Suchanek took down the pot with two pair, aces and sevens, climbing back up to 60,000 in chips.

Not So Steady

Kerry Stead raised before the flop from middle position and Amit Sheth was the only caller, so to the flop they went, which read {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

Stead checked, Sheth fired out a bet and Stead quickly mucked his hand. Stead is down to only 18,000 in chips; Sheth is on 68,000.

Morris Moves On Up

Simon Morris has just taken another big pot, this time off Ciaran Carter to now sit on a stack worth 64,500 in chips.

The action folded around preflop to Morris who raised from the button. Carter called from the small blind, as did Jan Suchanek from the big blind to see a flop of {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

Carter opened for 2,000, Suchanek mucked but Morris raised it up to 4,000. Carter called, then check-called Morris on the turn of the {7-Spades}.

On the river of the {5-Diamonds}, Carter checked, Morris fired out again and this time Carter mucked, leaving himself with 24,500 in chips.

Dix Drops

Michael Dix raised from middle position and the action folded around to Amit Sheth who reraised from the small blind. Simon Morris folded his big blind, Dix called and then called Sheth's bet on the flop of {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

On the turn of the {10-Clubs}, Sheth led out, Dix raised and Sheth called, then both players checked down the river {8-Spades}.

Sheth tabled {K-Spades}{k-Spades} and Dix threw his hand into the muck. Sheth is now up to 67,000 while Dix is reduced to 53,000.

Simon Says "Double me up"

Simon Morris
Simon Morris
Simon Morris has just doubled up through former chip leader Jan Suchanek to move to 60,000 in chips.

Morris opened the pot with a raise from early position and was called by both Suchanek (middle) and Josh Wilson (late).

The flop came {K-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Morris fired a continuation bet that was raised by Suchanek. Wilson folded and Morris made the call.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts} and Morris passed the first action to Suchanek who bet. Morris then put in a check-raise and Suchanek made the call, opting to take the hand to the river -- {A-Clubs}.

On 5th Street, Morris fired one last bet that was called by Suchanek and Morris tabled a pocket pair of tens for a suck. Suchanek mucked, dropping to 46,000 in chips after the hand.

Morris Slips

Michael Dix and Jim Sachinidis both limped in preflop, only to see Simon Morris raise from late position. The others called and the dealer revealed a flop that read {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

Dix and Sachinidis checked, Morris led out and Dix was the only caller; Dix then check-called Morris on the turn of the {9-Clubs}.

Both players checked the {a-Diamonds} on the river; Morris rolled up {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} but was no good against Dix's {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

Dix is up to 58,000 while Morris is down to 41,000.

Steicke Isn't Invincible After All

Just another brick in the Great Wall of Steicke
Just another brick in the Great Wall of Steicke
David Steicke has lost a rare pot and is down to 60,000 in chips in the early stages of the preliminary final table.

Steve Krmpotic raised preflop and Josh Wilson called before Steicke reraised. Krmpotic and Wilson called to go three ways into a flop of {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Krmpotic and Wilson both check-called Steicke's bet on the flop; when the dealer produced the {4-Spades} on the turn Krmpotic checked, Wilson checked and Steicke led out again.

Krmpotic mucked and Wilson called, going heads-up to the river {9-Clubs} with Steicke. Both players checked it down and Steckie tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, but was no good against Wilson's {a-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Wilson is now up to 63,000 in chips.
