Chan Slipping

In the last five hands, the pot has been taken on the flop by the player on the button each time.

A few hands later, Terrence Chan limped the button and Carlos Mortensen made it 300. Chan called and the flop came down {5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. Mortensen bet 400 and Chan called. The two checked the {k-Spades} turn and on the {7-Clubs} river, Mortensen moved all in. Chan folded and is down to just 1,650 while Mortensen has 8,350.

On a flop of {2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, Terrence Chan check called Carlos Mortensen's bet of 150. The turn brought the {j-Hearts} and again Chan check-called, Mortensen's bet, which was 325 this time. On the river, {8-Clubs}, Chan checked to Mortensen who bet 1,100.

The big river bet put Chan to a big decision. He tanked for a while and then folded.

Mortensen has 6,100 to Chan's 3,900.

From the button, Alexander Kostritsyn made it 200 and was called by Scott Montgomery.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Montgomery check-called Kostritsyn's bet of 200.

On the {j-Diamonds} turn, Montgomery checked to Kostritsyn who bet 550. Montgomery made the call and the river brought the {7-Diamonds}. Again, Montgomery checked. Kostritsyn moved all in and Montgomery called.

Kostritsyn tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for a straight to take the pot and the match. He will play the winner of the Terrence Chan and Carlos Mortensen match up later tonight.

Jack High is Good

There haven't been very many showdown hands to report in the match with Alexander Kostritsyn and Scott Montgomery.

On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} Kostritsyn check-called Montgomery's bet of 200. The two checked the {8-Diamonds} turn and the {8-Hearts} river. Montgomery won the pot with jack-high and Kostritsyn muttered something about six-seven.

Kostritsyn Leading

On a flop of {2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}, Scott Montgomery checked to Alexander Kostritsyn who bet 175. Montgomery then raised it up to 600 and Kostritsyn made the call. The turn brought the {6-Diamonds} and Montgomery bet 1,000. Kostritsyn then moved all of his chips in the middle and Montgomery slid his cards toward the muck.

Kostritsyn now has 7,500 to Montgomery's 2,500.

Kostritsyn +1

It wasn't long after the first heads up match between Alexander Kostritsyn and Scott Montgomery started that we were on to the second one.

After a five-bet all-in, Kostritsyn tabled {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Montgomery showed {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

The flop brought {6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} pairing Montgomery's ace, but giving Kostritsyn a set. Montgomery found no help on the {j-Spades} turn and {8-Hearts} river and Kostritsyn is up one game to none.

Chan Doubles; Then KOs Morgenstern and Advances

Terrence Chan
Terrence Chan

It was all in preflop in this hand between Terrence Chan and Anton Morgenstern. Chan was at risk. He tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and was up against the {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs} of Morgenstern.

The flop brought {9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Chan had paired his nine to take the lead. The turn, {5-Hearts} and river {10-Clubs} didn't improve Morgenstern and gave Chan the double up.

A few hands later, they got it all in the middle preflop and this time, Morgenstern was at risk. Morgenstern tabled {q-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Chan showed {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Flop: {3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Turn: {2-Clubs}
River: {3-Clubs}

And with that, Chan has advanced and will play Carlos Mortensen at 6:00 p.m. local time.

Full House for Montgomery

From the button, Alexander Kostritsyn made it 125. Scott Montgomery made the call and the flop came down {q-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. Montgomery checked to Kostritsyn who bet 125. Montgomery made the call and the turn brought the {4-Hearts}. Both players checked to the river {j-Hearts}. Montgomery tossed out a bet of 250 and Kostritsyn insta-called but mucked when he saw Montgomery's {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a full house.
