A Five Takes Down the Pot for Blanner

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Barry Drysdale folded on the button and Soren Blanner completed from the small blind. The action was then on Jack Powell who decided to check his option.

Flop: {5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

Both players checked the flop and the {a-Spades} fell on the turn. Blanner tossed out for yellow chips, for a 20,000 bet and Powell made the call.

The river brought the {8-Diamonds} and both players opted to check.

"I have a five," said Blanner before tabling {j-Spades}{5-Spades}. It was good enough for Powell to slide his cards toward the muck.

Soren Blanner raised it up to 27,000. Charlie Combes moved all in and Blanner made the call.

Blanner: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Combes: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The flop came down {7-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Spades} giving each player a pair, but putting Combes in the lead. The {2-Spades} on the turn made it more promising for Combes who was looking to double his stack and cripple his opponent's.

However, the river had other plans. The {10-Clubs} hit the felt, giving Blanner trips. Blanner jumped from his seat, exclaiming, "Yes!" and his opponent walked away from the table defeated. Combes will however, take home AUD$14,220 for his efforts.

Drysdale Putting on the Pressure

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

It was folded around to Barry Drysdale in the small blind and he just called, sending the action over to Soren Blanner in the big blind. He checked his option and the flop came down {k-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Drysdale tossed out a bet of 22,000. Blanner then upped the ante, making it 42,000 more. Not to be outdone, Drysdale slide out a stack of yellow chips reraising to 110,000 total.

Blanner thought for a moment before sliding his cards toward the muck. For good measure, Drysdale flipped over a king.

Sorren Strikes Back

Level 17 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Soren Blanner started the final table with a slender chip lead, but after taking a couple of hits early on he's managed to take a fair chunk of change off Charlie Combes.

The action folded around to Blanner who raised to 26,000 from the small blind and Combes called from the big blind before they both checked the flop of {J-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}. On the turn of the {Q-Spades}, Blanner checked, Combes fired out 24,000 and Blanner called before leading out for 63,000 when the dealer produced the river {6-Diamonds}.

Combes looked puzzled, removing his sunglasses and standing up out of his seat, peering over at Blanner's stack before sitting back down again. After about three minutes Combes called, but mucked after Blanner rolled up {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for two pair.

Blanner is back up to 375,000 while Combes is looking forlon, looking down at a stack worth 196,000.

The action has been fast and furious since the players have returned from their break. Jack Powell made it 24,000 from the cutoff and Justin Walch, who was on the button, moved all in. Barry Drysdale in the small blind folded and Soren Blanner in the big blind asked for a call. It was too much for him, and he folded his cards, sending the action to Powell, who made the call.

Walch: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Powell: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Walch was sent to the rail in fifth place, taking home AUD$11,060. In the past 22 minutes, we've lost three players and are now four-handed.

Having been crippled by Charlie Combes after the elimination of Andrew Teng, James Keys managed to pick up a couple of small pots before moving his last 101,000 into the middle before the flop with {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

The action folded around to Barry Drysdale, who went all-in over the top with {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Sorren Blanner folded his big blind and then the dealer spread the board of {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

Drysdale's two pair was good enough to send Keys to the rail in sixth place to collect AUD$9,480. Drysdale is now up to 420,000 in chips.

There must have been something in the air on the break, because in the first hand back, there was plenty of action. Andrew Teng moved all in for about 40,000. James Keys, in the small blind, moved all in over the top and the action was on Charlie Combes in the big blind.

After some deliberation, Combes made the call and the cards were on their backs.

Teng: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Keys: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Combes: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The flop of {7-Spades}{a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} put Combes in the lead. The {7-Diamonds} fell on the turn, keeping Combes in the lead and the {7-Hearts} on the river didn't change anything.

Andrew Teng was sent to the payout desk to collect his AUD$7,900 for his seventh place finish, while Keys sent most of his stack over to Combes, leaving him with 57,000. Combes increased his stack to 320,000.
