Event #7: No-Limit Hold'em - Rebuys

Day 2 Completed

Congratulations Oliver Speidel, Winner of Event 7: $1,100 No Limit Hold'em w/Rebuys (AUD$100,595)!

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante
Congratulations to Oliver Speidel, Event #7 Champion!
Congratulations to Oliver Speidel, Event #7 Champion!

And just like that, ladies and gentlemen, it's all over! What started out as potentially a long, arduous grind quickly turned into a lightning-quick shove-fest and in the end, it's Melbourne's own Oliver Speidel who is now wearing the Event #7 championship gold ring!

Speidel may be a relative newcomer to the live tournament scene, but he's already recorded some respectable results, including an eighth-place finish in last year's Aussie Millions $2,200 Six Handed No Limit Hold'em event. We're sure to see more of him over the coming days and if his short-handed play throughout this final table is anything to go buy, there may well be another title to his name very soon!

Speidel showed great patience and well-timed aggressor against his heads-up opponent Randy Dorfman, who could have just as easily taken this title, having played his big stack perfectly against the other final table contenders. Still, AUD $71,610 is nothing to be upset about and we congratulate him on his valiant efforts.

Well, that just about wraps things up, but we've still got action going on with the $100,000 Challenge, so be sure to follow along with all the updates there. And don't forget - it's the BIG ONE tomorrow - that's right, the 2011 Aussie Millions Main Event kicks off in over 13 hours' time!

It's gonna get crazy all up in here y'all, so keep your browsers locked onto PokerNews. Now, let's get out of here. Word to your mother.

Randy Dorfman Eliminated in 2nd Place (AUD$71,610); Oliver Speidel Wins!

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Randy Dorfman did everything he could to be crowned an Aussie Millions champion, building up his big stack to come into the final table as the chip leader, but it wasn't to be his day as Oliver Speidel had other ideas.

Dorfman made it 12,000 from the button, as we had become accustomed to during the heads up battle.
Speidel then moved allin over the top of Dorfman's raise, as we had recently seen multiple times.

Speidel had Dorfman covered almost 2-1 and when Dorfman made the call he would be on the cusp of a runner-up finish.

Dorfman turned over {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. He would have only one over-card to Speidel's {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

When the board ran out {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} it would be home in 2nd place for Dorfman, collecting a handsome AUD$71,610 and with that we had our champion!

Speidel's Back Up

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Oliver Speidel has swung the chip lead back into his favor, moving up to 315,000 after another big pot against his heads-up rival Randy Dorfman.

Speidel limped in from the button and Dorfman checked from the big blind before checking again after the dealer produced the flop of {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Speidel opened for 6,000, Dorfman check-raised to 20,000, Speidel made it 56,000 to go and Dorfman called.

The dealer then brought the {3-Diamonds} down on the turn; Dorfman checked and Speidel deliberated before firing out 55,000. Dorfman quickly mucked and as a result, he's down to 185,000 in chips.

Speidel Taking Charge

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Randy Dorfman made a min-raise from the button which Oliver Speidel called.

Flop: {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

A check from Speidel and Dorfman would make it 11,000. Flat from Speidel and the turn would come.

The {4-Hearts} on the turn brought about another check from Speidel and Dorfman would again bet, this time 20,500.

Another call, another card.

It was the {6-Spades} on the river and this time Speidel led out for 25,000. With only one card needed for the straight, it may have been the reason the aggressor for the majority of the hand folded to Speidel's bet.

A Friendly Reminder ...

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

"Crown Casino has designated outdoor smoking areas throughout the premises," came the booming voice on the PA in the Crown Poker Room. "Smoking in the toilets is prohibited - if you are caught smoking in the toilets, you will be removed from the entertainment complex."

With such great outdoor smoking areas (complete with comfy couches), why would you bother trying to light up inside? Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Dorfman Chipping Away

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Randy Dorfman is slowly wearing Oliver Speidel down in this heads-up battle, but there's still not that much between them as the action continues down here in the Crown Poker Room.

Dorfman min-raised to 8,000 from the button before the flop and Speidel called before checking his option on the flop of {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Dorfman led out for 10,500, Speidel check-raised to 26,000 but he quickly folded after Dorfman shot out another 50,000 on top.

In the very next hand, Speidel limped in from the button and Dorfman raised to 14,500 from the big blind. Speidel called, but folded after Dorfman fired out 25,000 on a flop of {10-Spades}{K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

Gotta love the grind that is heads-up poker!

Count Them Chips

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Oliver Speidel made it 10,000 from the button sending the action flying Randy Dorfman's way.

Dorfman threw in a stack of chips that rolled onto multiple directions of the table. When the dust settled it was 19,000 more to Speidel.

Speidel would then announce he was allin. Dorfman asked for a count.

Speidel thought it prudent to count his stack out himself, cutting down his 5,000 denomination chips and saying out loud the numbers they were adding up to as he went.

Just as Speidel started getting into the hundreds of thousands Dorfman mucked his hand and sent the pot Speidel's way.

Hearts, Hearts Everywhere

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

If we told you Randy Dorfman had his tournament life on the line holding {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} against Oliver Speidel's {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} you might think, "We must have a winner!" But those educated in poker know that it's never that simple.

Speidel raised from the button and was promptly re-raised by Dorfman. Speidel then thought for a minute or so before announcing he was all-in. Dorfman snapped Speidel off and cringed as he saw how dominated he was.

The cringe quickly turned into a smile as the fourth heart rolled off on a board showing {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Dorfman would be saved and would bring the stacks back to square one.

Here we go again!
