Kostritsyn Spikes Ace

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Alexander Kostritsyn has just found a double through John Juanda after having his last 42,000 in the middle.

Kostritsyn: {A-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Juanda: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The at-risk Kostritsyn wasn't too happy with the {3-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop, but the {A-Clubs} on the turn was what he was after as the {6-Hearts} completed the board on the river.

Baller, Table of Eight?

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

It's not every day you can scramble together 38 players to put up $100,000 on a single tournament. Yet somehow, this month of January 2011 has supported two such events on opposite halves of the world just two weeks apart.

Well, it's time for the high rollers to hit the ATM again. Rumors have been circling for a week or so, and T.D. Christian has just made the announcement that tickled the ears of the 28 players still seated in this event.

On January 27th, the Aussie Millions will host the largest buy-in tournament ever assembled. It will cost $250,000 to enter the one-off event, and the winner of the single eight-handed table will take all $2,000,000 up for grabs.

As soon as the announcement was made official, Tony G scurried over to the floorman to find out if there was still a seat open at that very expensive table. If he needs backers, we can afford to buy, like, half a percent of his action. Maybe.

Turn Bet Wins for Cheung

Level 3 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Derek Cheung raised to 5,000 from under the gun. Sorel Mizzi was in the next seat and made the call while everyone else folded. Both players then proceeded to check the {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop to see the {K-Diamonds} pair the board with cowboys on the turn. Cheung bet 10,000 and Mizzi folded.

Pantling Shoves River Into Mizzi

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Sorel Mizzi raised to 5,000 and Andrew Pantling called. Mizzi was in the cutoff seat and Pantling was in the big blind.

The flop came down {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and both players checked to see the {6-Clubs} fall on the turn. Pantling bet 8,000 and Mizzi made the call.

The river completed the board with the {10-Spades} to pair the board. Pantling moved all in for 35,500 and Mizzi mucked his hand. Mizzi dropped back to 228,000.

Bord Forced to Fold

Level 3 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

James Bord potted the button to 7,000 only to have John Juanda re-pot to 22,000 from the big blind.

With the action back on a short-stacked Bord, he looked down at roughly his remaining 30,000 as he contemplated a decision.

The clock timed down, "5, 4, 3, 2 . . ." stated the dealer before Bord kicked his cards to the muck as the final second was announced.

Juanda on the other hand has moved to 85,000 in chips.

Steicke Gives Up to Yu

Level 3 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Winfred Yu raised to 5,000 and David Steicke called from the big blind. The two players went to battle on the flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Spades} and Steicke was first to act. He checked and Yu bet 7,000. Steicke made the call.

The dealer placed the {10-Clubs} out on the turn, pairing the board. Steicke checked. Yu bet a little bigger this time, firing 15,000. Steicke had enough and folded his hand, allowing Yu to improve to 155,000. Steicke slipped back to 170,000.

Lederer Legged

Level 3 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer

The action flew fast and heavy as we found Howard Lederer committing the last of chips in the pot on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} against Sam Trickett.

Lederer: {J-Spades}{9-Spades}
Trickett: {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The turn and river would blank out with the {2-Clubs} and {4-Hearts} to see Lederer bite the dust as Trickett continues to build his chip-leading fortress.
