Ivey Vanquishes Vinson, Crushes Chan

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

John Vinson and Terrence Chan have just been eliminated in quick succession by Phil Ivey, who is now on a mountain of chips and is looking dangerous ... or furious ... or happy ... or something.

Ivey raised to 1,500 from under the gun and Vinson reraised to 4,225 from UTG +1. The action folded back to Ivey who quickly fired out a four-bet, Vinson shoved for about 15,000 and Ivey snap-called, tabling {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} against Vinson's {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The board of {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Spades} improved neither hand and Vinson was sent packing. He was soon followed by Chan, who open-shoved for his last 10,000 with {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} preflop, only to be insta-called by Ivey who revealed {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

No kickass martial arts moves could dodge these bullets as the board was spread {5-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, sending Chan to the rail. And, just as this post was about to go up, another opponent moved the last of his money in preflop with pocket kings, but Ivey woke up with pocket aces!

Ivey is now edging 100,000 in chips - and that is more awesome than any double rainbow.

Misstep for Moorman

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Chris Moorman bet 2,500 at a {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop. His opponent, seated to his direct left, raised him to 6,600. Moorman took a shot at scaring him off with a three-bet to 13,100. But instead of running for the hills, his opponent moved all in for another 30,000 or so. Moorman insta-mucked, leaving himself with 32,000.

Gazza's Hanging in There

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Gary Ablett Jr. is still hanging around the 30,000-chip mark, but it could have been a lot bigger had he got a little more aggressive against John Eames.

The action folded to Eames who raised to 1,600 from the small blind and Ablett called from the big blind to go heads-up to a flop of {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}. Eames led out for 2,000 and Ablett called, then after Eames checked the turn of the {6-Diamonds}, Ablett fired out 6,000, leaving about 10,000 behind.

Eames thought about it for a minute or so before calling, then checked his option on the river of the {2-Spades}. Ablett went into the tank for over two minutes before checking and rolling up {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for trip tens. Eames mucked his hand, but he's still looking good with a stack worth more than 42,000.

According to our field reporter, Ablett is looking quite nervous out there. We can't say we don't blame him, given that he's on a table that includes Patrik Antonius and Barny Boatman. Time to show some of that aggression that you're famous for out on the footy field, Gazza!

Antonius Still Climbing

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Patrik Antonius opened from early position to 1,700. The hijack flatted, as did Maryann Farrugia in the big blind. The flop came out {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Farrugia checked, and Antonius bet 4,000. That was enough to fold out the hijack but not enough to scare off Farrugia. She called to see the {j-Diamonds} turn. She checked again, and Antonius bet 9,500. She gave up, shipping the pot to PA. He's up to 62,000 and she slipped a little to 55,500.

Chippy Chop Chan

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Terrence Chan has been short stacked for the majority of the last few levels so when he woke up with {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} he thought it was finally his time to move his stack all-in.

Chan would recieve one caller in JP Kelly who would table {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. It could be worse, but it didnt look like Chan would double-up.

Flop: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Okay, now it couldnt be worse. What Chan would have been thinking was a sure chop now turned into the sweat for his his tournament.

Turn: {k-Hearts}

Tension building and one more card to come.

River: {q-Spades}

Saved! Lucky for Chan he takes the chop and stays alive.

Ivey With Overs

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Phil Ivey has managed to double-up after falling to under 20,000 just a few hands ago.

We came to the action with a flop showing {5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and a bet of 9,000 into Ivey from JP Kelly. At this point Ivey moved the remainder of his stack in for just under 20,000. Kelly made the call and the players turned their hands over.

Kelly: {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Ivey: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Both had over-cards to the board, but that wouldnt matter as the turn and river bricked and Ivey took down the pot, doubling-up to around 40,000.

Ace High Sweet for Sowers' Opponent

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Mike Sowers raised to 1,500 on the button, and the small blind repopped it to 4,300. Sowers flatted.

Flop: {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} - The small blind bet 3,200, and Sowers called.

Turn: {6-Spades} - Same action. The small blind charged Sowers 10,500 to see a river, and he paid.

River: {7-Clubs} - The slow pot was big enough for both of them, and they each checked. The small blind turned up {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a pair of fives with an ace kicker. And Sowers couldn't beat it. He mucked, slipping back to 85,000.

No Chopping?

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Action folded to the small blind, who raised to 1,500. Howard Lederer called from the big blind. The flop came out {q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, and small blind continued with a bet of 2,500. The Professor called. The {q-Diamonds} turn earned a quick check from both players. The {j-Clubs} on the river meant another bet from the small blind, this time only 2,100. Lederer called one last time. His opponent showed {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, but the pair of snowmen was no good as Lederer tabled {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}. He's up over 40,000 now.

So, Who's Winning The Tennis?

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Patrick Antonius is dealing out devestating blows in between intently watching the Australian Open Tennis match between Andy Roddick and Stanislas Wawrinka.

Antonius was in the hi-seat when he had an opponent in risk from the cut off. Antonius held {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} and his opponent {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{2-Spades}, the ace on the turn sending one player packing as Antonius moves to 45,000.

Just for those of you interested, the tennis match that Antonius can't keep his eyes off is currently seen with Wawrinka up two sets love to Roddick.

Also, it should be noted that Antonius may not be too interested just for kicks. Antonius and Phil Ivey could be heard making wagers across the tables as the match started. It's unclear who has which side, but hopefully time will tell.

Ivey's Down, But Not Out

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Team Full Tilt Pro Phil Ivey has just doubled up an opponent in a hand just after the break.

On a flop that read {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Ivey check-raised to 15,000 after his opponent led out for 2,500. The opponent called all-in and showed down {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} ahead of Ivey's {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

Ivey hit an open-ended straight draw on the turn of the {9-Diamonds}, but the river {Q-Spades} completed the board and the jacks held up. Ivey is down to around 15,000 in chips.
