[Removed:505] has just taken a huge hit to his stack and it all occured when he ran his into the of Sean Robey.
The board brought no help for Kinkade and he now has a pittance of what he started the day with, while Robey is now one of the bigger stacks in the room.
We didn't catch the action on the hand but what we did notice as we passed Table 32 is that a player was laying down on a board. A flopped full house is a tough hand to get away from so we asked how the action went down.
Apparently it was a raised pot and both players checked on the flop. On the turn Alidzanovic led for 7,000 and Sibaei made the call. The river saw Alidzanovic again lead, this time for 12,500. This was when Sibaei shoved his stack in - roughly 50,000 more. Alidzanovic then folded his pocket-threes face up and sent the pot to Sibaei.
We just made our way up to the Crown Showroom to check out the the 5th Annual Joe Hachem and Shane Warne Charity Poker Tournament and all we can say is, "Wow!" The venue is absolutely incredible and the guest list is equally impressive. During our brief jaunt, which included a walk down the read carpet, we noticed a ton of celebrities and poker pros.
Obviously Shane Warne and Joe Hachem were in attendance, while others spread throughout the room included Tony G, Tony Hachem, Toby Lewis, Maria Ho, Tiffany Michelle, Annette Obrestad, Robert Williamson III, Tatjana Pasalic, David Gorr, Clonie Gowen, and poker personality and media guru, Kevmath.
Rumor has it about 200 players are already registered for the event, which should start in the next hour or so. Until then, guests will enjoy having their pictures taken, eating appetizers, and rubbing elbows with some pretty exclusive company. Oh, we almost forgot to mention, up for grabs in the charity event are some pretty fancy prizes. The second and third place finishers will both receive entry into the Aussie Millions Main Event, while the winner will be awarded a package to the 2012 World Series of Poker that features an entry into the $10,000 Main Event!
We're going to try to head up to the Crown Showroom about once an hour to grab updates to intersperse throughout our Day 2 coverage of the Opening Event. We'll also have some photos for you to enjoy later today, so stay tuned!
The action was opened by [Removed:505] from early position and he managed a call from the button and Sam Youssef also came along for the ride in the small blind.
Flop:
Youssef opted to check, at which point Kinkade made it 7,600 to go. The other player got out of the way and Youssef made the call as the hit the turn. Youssef again opted to check and Kinkade fired another bullet, this time 17,100. Youssef didn't want to continue and sent his cards into the muck as Kinkade took down a nice little pot.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time. We just so happened to wonder by Table 26 when a monster pot was developing. From what we pieced together, defending champ Martin Drewe was under the gun and either raised or shipped, which was called by both Panchara Wongwichit and Mel Judah. Tony Delavinias then put in a huge three-bet from the small blind, one that had everyone else covered.
Drewe was in, and Wongwichit thought long and hard before releasing his hand. Judah, who had about 45,000 back, made the call and the cards were turned up:
Showdown
Drewe:
Judah:
Delavinias:
Delavinias was in a dominating spot, though the flop gave Drewe some hope. The turn gave Judah a gut-shot straight draw, but the river paired the board and allowed Delavinias to score the double elimination. Not only that, Wilson went on to win the next to hands and is literally still stacking his chips. Near as we can tell, he has at least 330K.
Meanwhile, there will be no repeat winner as Drewe, the 2011 Opening Event Champion, has been eliminated .
Wakeman opend the pot to 6,000 from under the gun and Octavian Voegele sat directly to Wakeman's left when he shoved all in. The action flew back around to Wakeman and he made the call.
Wakeman:
Voegele:
When the board ran out with bricks all over the felt, Voegele took down the pot, while Wakeman takes the hit to his stack.
