Chop It Up

Luke McLean and an opponent were heads up on a board of {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. McLean led out for 3,125, and his opponent called.

The river was the {q-Spades}, and McLean tossed out two yellow T5,000 chips. His opponent shifted in his chair, and tanked for the better part of a minute before calling. McClean turned over {q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a pair of queens, and his opponent let out a long sigh of relief, then flipped over {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for the same exact hand.

We're not sure how, but Grant Levy was just eliminated from the Aussie Millions Main Event.

Mahmood Flushes Elder

The player to Rupert Elder's right raised to 700 and the former EPT San Remo winner called. Ayaz Mahmood was sitting in the big blind and he threw in the call as well.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs} and all three players checked. On the turn the {2-Spades} hit and it was checked to Elder who bet 1,300. Both his opponents called.

The river brought a fourth spade and all three players checked. Elder showed {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Mahmood started singing, "Flushy, flushy, flushy," as he tabled {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Mahmood took down the pot and is up to around 80,000 chips.

Ramakrishnan Wins Huge Pot

When we reached the table, the board read {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. There was about 35,000 in the pot, an unknown player was already all in, and Raj Ramakrishnan and Andy Lee were battling for a side pot.

Lee led out for 7,500, Ramakrishnan raised to 23,000, and Lee moved all in for effectively 62,225. Ramakrishnan thought for 10 seconds or so, then called.

Lee: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Ramakrishnan: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
All-In Player: {q-Hearts}{6-Spades}

The {j-Diamonds} completed the board, and Ramakrishnan, who finished fourth in the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event, was shipped a massive 130,000-chip pot.

Lee dropped down to around 50,000 chips.

Don't Bluff Allen

On a board reading {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{K-Spades} it was David Allen who bet 1,600 into Elliot Smith. Smith tanked for a bit and raised it up to 6,000 and Allen came back over the top up to 13,000. Smith folded quickly and Allen raked in a nice pot.

A Few Counts

Lee Four-Bets

Andy Lee opened to 700 from middle position, and received two callers. Eoghan O'Dea did not call, rather he three-bet to 2,800 from the big blind. Lee responded with a four-bet to 5,500, and took down the pot.

Quick Exit For Boxell

Leo Boxell
Leo Boxell

Leo Boxell has been eliminated some time ago and Michael Pedley just helped us piece together his downfall.

Boxell first lost a big pot in which he tried bluffing an opponent. His opponent called with a rivered pair of kings against the Australian Poker Hall of Fame member's {A-}{Q-}.

Boxell ended up all in for his final 13,000 chips with {Q-}{Q-} against a flopped set of treys. No luck for Boxell who was knocked out early on, on Day 1a.

Glazier Flops a Straight

Jackie Glazier
Jackie Glazier

Jackie Glazier and three opponents saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. All four players checked.

The turn was the {7-Spades}, Glazier led out for 1,100, and only one player called.

The {6-Clubs} completed the board, and Glazier tossed out 3,500. The player begrudgingly called, and Glazier turned over {j-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a flopped straight.

The player flashed the {k-Spades}, then mucked his cards.

Lee Gets Some From Teltscher

"You just can't beat this man!" Teltscher yelled with a smile as he lost a pot to Paul Lee. Lee smiled and raked in a fairly big pot that played out as following:

After some preflop action it was a heads up affair between Teltscher and Lee on a {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop. Lee check-called 1,625 and the turn brought out the {A-Spades}. This time Lee lead out for 5,000 and Teltscher went into the tank. After quite some time he elected to make the call.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Lee fired out another 10,000. Teltscher tanked for quite some time and ended up negotiating that his opponent would show one card if he folded. Lee showed the {9-Spades} after Teltscher had folded his cards, and the latter picked up the {3-Spades} from the board to point out his hand had something to do with that card. We'll never know if he actually folded a set, but all signs point towards a big fold from the former EPT winner.
