Eights Prove Great for Spindler

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

When we arrived at Table 25, Benny Spindler had 16,500 out in front of him on the button and Philipp Gruissem had 60,000 or so out in front from the small blind. Spindler tanked before moving all in for 72,900, and Gruissem called.

Gruissem: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Spindler: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Gruissem flinched upon seeing his pocket pair was dominated, and he sent over nearly half his stack after the board ran out a dry {3-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

Barer Busto, Katchalov Crushing

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Former Aussie Millions Main Event winner Ami Barer has just been knocked out by Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov. Barer raised before the flop to 6,500 and Katchalov made the call from the big blind.

The flop came down {4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Spades} and Katchalov checked to Barer who bet 8,000. Katchalov check-raised to 20,000 and Barer moved all in for about 60,000 total. Katchalov called.

Katchalov: {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Barer: {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}, {A-Hearts} and Barer was sent to the rail, while Katchalov jumped up the leaderboard.

Kempe Doubles Through Quoss

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

On a board of {5-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{J-Spades} we saw Rainer Kempe bet 25,200 from the big blind. Fabian Quoss made the call from first position. The {10-Clubs} completed the board and Kempe moved in for 65,500. Quoss made the call but couldn't beat Kempe's {10-Spades}{J-Hearts}. It looked like Quoss flashed his {A-}{J-} and later told us Kempe had check-called the flop and lead out on the turn.

The Ladies Love Gross

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Michael Weiss opened with a raise from the button and a short-stacked Jeff Gross three-bet all in for 23,200 from the small blind. Weiss made the call and the cards were turned up.

Gross: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Weiss: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Gross was looking to dodge an ace or any other nonsense, and that's just what he did after the board ran out {6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Dietrich Done and Dusted

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Moritz Dietrich took a huge hit after losing with top pair to a set, and he recent got his last 15,000 or so all in preflop against Benny Spindler.

Spindler: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Dietrich: {a-}{10-}

It was a flip, but Dietrich needed to improve to stay alive. That proved easier said than done as the board ran out an unhelpful {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} to send the pot to Spindler.

Nitsche Takes One

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

From under the gun, Byron Kaverman raised to 7,000. Dominik Nitsche called on the button, and Steve O'Dwyer called from the big blind.

The flop fell {J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, and action was checked by O'Dwyer and Kaverman. Nitsche bet 9,000, and both of his opponents folded.

Geoff Mooney Eliminated

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Geoff Mooney from Sydney finished runner up in an event here earlier this week for A$24,524. That prize was just shy of the A$25,000 to buy into this tournament and he did just that to let it ride. He didn't turn it into greatness, as he's just been eliminated.

He was down to his last 30,000 or so and shoved from the cutoff. Erik Seidel in the big blind woke up with {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and instantly called. Mooney had {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and his hand not holding up: {3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Seidel is still down a bit, he plays just under 80,000 in chips.

Lichtenberger and Finger Depart

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

Yaxi Zhu opened with a raise from the hijack only to have Andrew Lichtenberger three-bet all in for 28,000 from the small blind. Connor Drinan folded the big and Zhu called to put "Lucky Chewy" at risk.

Lichtenberger: {k-}{k-}
Zhu: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Lichtenberger was ahead, and he even improved to top set on the {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop. However, it was no good as Zhu had flopped Broadway. Lichtenberger needed to pair the board to stay alive, but that didn't happen as the {4-Clubs} blanked on the turn followed by the {5-Hearts} on the river.

Meanwhile, Martin Finger's comeback fell short as he was also eliminated from the tournament.
