Yang Doubles (But it Took Some Time)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

With 49 players remaining, there's a AU$5,000 bubble going on right now. That's why some players take a bit more time to make up their minds. We just got a prime example in a hand between Ari Engel and Renjun Yang.

Yang opened the cutoff to 40,000 with just 6,000 behind. Ari Engel called from the small blind and bet out 20,000 on {6-Hearts}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds} to put Yang all in.

Yang, with under a big blind behind, tanked for two minutes when Engel called the clock. After a minute the floor informed Yang he had 90 seconds left to act on his hand. In between Engel told him "I have the best hand for now, but anything can happen."

With about 10 seconds or so left, Yang made the call. Engel confidently showed {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} but that in fact wasn't the best hand. Yang showed {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and took down the pot after the {J-Diamonds} on the turn and {2-Spades} on the river.

Obst Loses Big Flip

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst just raised to 20,000 and the action folded to Alexandros Kolonias in the small blind and he three-bet to 60,000. The action was now back on Obst, and he moved all in, eliciting a call from Kolonias for a total of 272,000 chips.

Kolonias: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Obst: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Obst took a big hit while Kolonias doubled up.

Dunst Joins the Millionaire Club

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Engels opened for 25,000 on the button only to have Tony Dunst three-bet to 80,000 from the big blind. Engels made the call and the two took a flop of {3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Dunst bet 75,000, Engels called, and the {J-Diamonds} appeared on the turn.

Dunst slowed down with a check, Engels checked behind, and the {5-Spades} completed the board on the river. Dunst slid out a big bet of 165,000, and Engels quickly called by tossing in a few chips. Dunst rolled over the {k-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for top pair, top kicker, and it was good as Engels sent his cards to the muck unseen.

Three Streets of Value

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Kitty Kuo raised to 24,000 from middle position and Jack O'Neill on the button was the only caller.

Kuo would fire three bullets: 21,000 on {J-Hearts}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts}, 38,000 on the {6-Clubs} turn, and 59,000 on the {2-Clubs} river.

O'Neill called all three streets, but had mucked upon seeing Kuo's {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

Engels Check Raises the River

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Egan raised before the flop and Daniel Engels in the big blind was the only caller. Engels check called a bet of 18,000 on {6-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and 50,000 on the {7-Hearts} turn. He checked the {K-Spades} river again and Egan answered with a bet of 71,000. After about two minutes in the tank, Engels announced a raise (to 280,000 if we heard correctly). Egan folded almost right away.

Kitty Don't Know Jack

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Kitty Kuo opened for 18,000 from the hijack and was met by a three-bet to 55,000 from Jack O'Neill in the small blind. Kuo made the call and then called a bet of 47,000 on the {9-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop. After the dealer burned and turned the {8-Spades}, O'Neill checked and Kuo slid out a bet of 100,000. It did the trick as O'Neill sent his hand to the muck.

Kolonias Doubles Through Wang

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

From under the gun, Michael Wang raised to 17,000. Stephen Chidwick reraised from the cutoff seat to 42,000, and Wang folded.

On the next hand, Alexandros Kolonias raised on the button, and Wang called from the big blind to see the flop come out {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Wang checked, Kolonias bet 15,000, and Wang called.

The turn was the {J-Clubs}, and Wang checked again. After Kolonias bet 25,000, Wang check-raised all in, having Kolonias covered. Kolonias called to put himself at risk for 103,000 with the {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} for trip nines. Wang had the {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a straight to the jack.

The river was the {10-Hearts} to give Kolonias a full house and the double up.
