Another Double Knockout for Dunst; Gruissem and Hartmann Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Yesterday, Tony Dunst knocked out both Richard Ashby and Julius Colman in a big hand with kings to queens and jacks, and now he again knocked out two players in one hand.

Philipp Gruissem raised to 18,000 from the hijack seat, and Pascal Hartmann shoved all in from the cutoff seat for 108,000. Tony Dunst, in the small blind, made the call and action was back on Gruissem. Gruissem shoved all in for 229,000, and Dunst added the chips to make the call.

Pascal Hartmann: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Philipp Gruissem: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Tony Dunst: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The flop came {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, favoriting Dunst. Gruissem was looking for a club while Hartmann was looking for a nine. The {7-Spades} on the turn and {8-Diamonds} on the river were both blanks and Dunst collected all the chips in the pot.

Back-to-Back Doubles for Fan

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Terry Fan
Terry Fan

In the very next hand after doubling through John Chu, Terry Fan shipped another double through Daniel Engels.

We missed the action unfold, but we do know Fan, who was in the small blind, managed to get his stack of 203,000 all in preflop against Daniel Engels, who was in the big blind.

Engels: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Fan: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

It was a flip, and the proverbial coin came down in Fan's favor when the {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop paired his ace. All he needed to do was dodge a red six, and that's just what he did when the {8-Spades} blanked on the turn followed by the {Q-Diamonds} on the river.

Fan Fights Back from Brink of Elimination

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Not long ago Terry Fan was on an extreme short stack. While he's still short with less than half the average, he's in much better shape thanks to a recent double.

It happened when action folded to John Chu in the small blind and he simply moved all in to put the pressure on Fan in the big. Fan liked what he saw and called off for 98,000.

Fan: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Chu: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Fan was well out in front, but he had to sweat hearts when the {6-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop gave Chu a flush draw. The {4-Spades} turn was safe for Fan, and so was the {10-Diamonds} river. Ship the double to Fan.

Two Double Ups on Table 31

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Sinan Aydogan was one of the shortest stacks on the bubble but managed to spike a double and then increase his stack even more. Just now, the Aussie doubled up once again after Cankai Zhang defended his big blind against the button raise of Aydogan. On the flop {J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}, the action escalated and Aydogan was put at risk for 153,000 chips.

Aydogan: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Zhang: {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Zhang's rail was rooting for a king or jack, but their wish was denied with the {2-Spades} turn and {7-Diamonds} river as last two community cards.

Not long after, the action folded around to John Chu and he open-shoved into short stack Terry Fan. Mister "FanTastic" found a hand to call with in {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and doubled through the {Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts} of Chu on the board {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

Mason and Graham Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Ashley Mason was all in for 125,000 with the {A-Spades}{5-Spades} against the {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for Laurence Hall. Hall had Mason slightly covered, and his eights held after the board ran out {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

Shortly after that, Jarred Graham was also eliminated on the feature table.

Ren Takes From Engel

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Ari Engel raised to 18,000 from the cutoff and was met by a three-bet to 45,000 by Xingrong Ren on the button. Both blinds folded, Engel called, and the flop came down {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Engel check-called a bet of 55,000 and then both players checked the {10-Diamonds} turn. Action repeated itself on the {4-Hearts} river and Ren, as the last aggressor, tabled the {9-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for sixes and nines. It was good as Engel mucked his hand.

Ko KO's Kanit

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit check-raised all in on the {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop against Yuki Ko with the {10-Spades}{7-Spades} for a gutshot straight draw and a backdoor flush draw. Ko had the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and made the call.

Ko's hand held after the {6-Diamonds} hit the turn and the {3-Clubs} hit the river, giving him the pot and sending Kanit to the rail.

Ko, who won Event #4: $1,150 Pot-Limit Omaha for AU$54,500, increased his stack to 765,000 in chips.

Straight Flush for Ong, Hussey Almost Folds The Nut Flush

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
James Ong
James Ong

We picked up the action on the river with about 100,000 chips in the middle, with the board showing {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

Daryl Hussey bet 40,000 on the river and James Ong went into the river for a long time before raising it up to 140,000.

Hussey immediately seemed frustrated with the raise, and he went into the tank for a long time. Hussey shook his head repeatedly before ultimately putting in the call.

Ong showed {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a straight flush and Hussey threw his {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} onto the felt in frustration.

"That's f***king ridiculous!" Hussey said, as he just lost the majority of his stack with the second nuts.

Shortly thereafter, Hussey was eliminated.

Savard Eliminated by Abernathy

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Samantha Abernathy
Samantha Abernathy

After Michael Egan raised on the button, Jean-Pascal Savard reraised all in from the small blind. Egan folded, and Savard picked up the pot to chip up a little bit.

Then, on the next hand, Samantha Abernathy raised from the under-the-gun position to 18,000. Play folded to Savard on the button, and he reraised all in for 187,000. Action got back to Abernathy, and she called with the {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. Savard had the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, and Abernathy's eights held to give her the knockout of Savard.
