Chidwick Hooks One

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

We caught the high-rolling Stephen Chidwick involved in a hand against a tablemate on a fairly wet flop of {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. There had obviously been some preflop action as the pot was already quite sizable.

As the out of position player in the hand Chidwick had led out for a bet of what looked to be 1,400 or so and his opponent, sitting on the button, had three-bet to 4,000.

Chidwick mulled it over for a minute or so before tossing in the call and the dealer burned and turned {k-Spades} which brought checks from both players.

The {8-Hearts} river brought a 2,500 bet from Chidwick and a call from the button and the cards were turned over, Chidwick’s {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} in front of his opponent’s {10-}{10-} and the Brit climbed to over 50,000 after the hand.

Grafton Gives Some Away

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a board of {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} the player in the small blind led out for 400 before Sam Grafton made it 1,900 from the big blind. The action was four-handed and Grafton’s reraise was met with two folds before the small blind flicked in a call.

The {2-Spades} turn prompted two checks and the {5-Hearts} river double-paired the board. Again it was checked through and Grafton slammed down {4-Spades}{3-Hearts} which was way behind his opponent’s {q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} full house.

“Nice hand” Grafton confessed as the pot was awarded to his tablemate.

Gao Pays it Off

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The player in the cutoff raised to 500 and was called by Jie Gao in the small blind.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Gao checked. His opponent threw out a continuation bet totalling 700. Gao called.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and Gao check-called another bet of 1,600.

A third bet of 3,600 followed the {8-Hearts} on the river which sent Gao into the tank. After a few minutes he called, only to muck his hand, after his opponent showed {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for trip sevens.

Demlakian Lets One Go Before Being Caught Out

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We caught the action on the turn in a hand involving 2016 PCA final tablist Ken Demlakian and an opponent sitting in the big blind.

There looked to be roughly 1,000 in the pot with the board reading {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Demlakian had just bet 400 from the button. The big blind check-raised to 1,500 and Demlakian thought it over for a little bit.

“I’ll let you have that one friend,” said Demlakian, pitching his cards into the muck.

The next hand was dealt speedily and following a raise to 400 from middle position and a call from a player in the hijack Demlakian decided to three-bet to 1,400 from the cutoff.

Both other players make the call and the action went three-way to a flop of {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. All three players checked taking the play to the {a-Spades} turn.

After both, the other players checked Demlakian led out for 2,300. The original raiser thought it over and called but the hijack folded taking play heads-up to the {10-Diamonds} river.

This brought another check from the original raiser and Demlakian fired again, leading out for 4,300. Demlakian’s opponent did not look happy about it but did make the call.

“You got it,” said Demlakian, turning over {4-Spades}{5-Spades}. His opponent did, turning over {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} to win the hand.

Reigning Champ Makes Broadway

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Last year’s Aussie Millions Main Event champion Ari Engel is in the building and chipping up after making a Broadway straight against an unfortunate tablemate.

It went three-way to the flop of {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and after the big blind checked, Engel bet 750. The third player called and with the big blind out of the way the dealer presented the {k-Diamonds} turn.

Engel kept up the aggression with another barrel for 2,000 and was called again before the {9-Diamonds} river completed the board. Engel opted for a bet of 4,000 on the end and was paid off with his {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for Broadway.

His opponent let out a sigh of disbelief and muttered about having two pair as the pot was pushed to Engel.

Rubie Can't Fire a Third

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades} the player in the hijack checked over to Brendon Rubie who tossed out 650. The bet was called.

The turn brought the {j-Hearts} and Rubie's opponent check-called another bet totalling 1,700.

After the {5-Diamonds} completed the board the hijack checked. Rubie opted for a check as well then mucked his hand when his opponent tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for two pair.

Kolonias Lets it Go

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Alexandros Kolonias is another high roller in today’s field that is coming in after playing yesterday’s $100,000 Challenge.

We caught the action on a flop of {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} with 1,000 already in the pot. Sitting in the cutoff Kolonias had a single red 500-chip out on the felt in front of him representing a bet, though we are not sure on the exact bet size this represents as he had just been check-raised to 900 in total by his opponent in the big blind.

Kolonias made the call but folded fairly speedily when his opponent led the {4-Diamonds} turn for 1,500.

Watson Picked Off

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Action folded around to Mike Watson in the small blind who completed and the big blind checked with the two players going to a flop of {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

Watson led out for 200 and the big blind made the call and it was off to the turn, which came down {10-Clubs}.

This brought a bet of 500 from Watson, which was again called by his opponent and the dealer peeled off the {4-Spades} river.

After thinking it over Watson chose to check, sheepishly rolling over {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for jack-high when his opponent checked behind. Unsurprisingly this is no good and Watson’s opponent wins the hand with {6-Spades}{q-Clubs}.
