Lamb Busted

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Ben Lamb, pictured in an earlier event.
Ben Lamb, pictured in an earlier event.

We found Ben Lamb with his final 4,300 in the middle on a board of {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. A player who had checked under the gun was thinking things over. The bet was a little over half of the pot, and the under-the-gun player tossed in a call.

Lamb tabled {k-Spades}{q-Spades} but was no good against {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. The river was a harmless {8-Spades} and Lamb silently took his leave.

"That's the card to check isn't it?" wondered a player at the table.

Sinclair Takes on Benoit

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

There was multiway action on a {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop with Jack Sinclair first to act. He checked, Benjamin Benoit bet 1,300, another player called, Sinclair check-raised to 5,200, Benoit called and the third player folded.

Sinclair continued his aggression with a bet of 6,000 on the {6-Spades} turn, which Benoit swiftly called as well. On the {K-Diamonds} river, Sinclair quickly checked and Benoit checked behind.

The 2017 WSOP final tablist showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flopped two pair and Benoit mucked.

Jouhkimainen Off to the Cash Game

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Joni Jouhkimainen was spotted at one of the first cash game tables to open in the upper section of the poker room and that confirmed his elimination. The Finn was kind enough to confirm what had happened in the last hand.

According to Jouhkimainen, it was David Tam that opened from under the gun and Jouhkimainen called in the big blind with pocket tens. The Finn check-raised a {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop from 700 to 2,700 and Tam called before Jouhkimainen bet the {4-Spades} turn for 5,000, Tam came along. A blank {2-} river resulted in the shove of Jouhkimainen with his set and Tam called with the {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw but back-doored straight.

A look at Jouhkimainen's former table indeed revealed Tam with double the starting stack.

O'Grady Talking the Talk

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Michael O'Grady raised to 500 and got three callers including Jackson Warne and Scott Davies. The flop of {8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} was checked around and the turn {k-Hearts} was checked to O'Grady.

"Gonna trap all those old nits," he said, pointing to Davies' end of the table before betting 1,700. Warne and Davies folded before the third player called.

"The nit's going to pay me off," continued O'Grady, "I guess I'm f*cking dead!" The table laughed and the river came the {6-Clubs}.

It checked to O'Grady who bet 1,200.

His opponent thought before calling. "Do you have King-ten?" said O'Grady showing {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and his opponent showed {k-Spades}{j-Spades} and took down the pot.

Double Straddle Alert on Table 43

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

There was plenty of laughter coming up from table 43 with Jack Salter, David Wang and Mai Ha all seated there. Salter and Ha confirmed that their table had agreed to run a double straddle for an orbit, though Ha was the one that eventually pulled out of it. "I got burned," he joked and another player replied back "You didn't get burned, you lit yourself up," causing even more laughter.

While Ha has dropped below the starting stack, Salter and Wang are on the way up.

Shane Warne Shoving

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Shane Warne had gotten short and on a {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop he checked out of the blinds to a player who bet 850. The third player in the hand called and Warne's shove for around 8,500 was enough to push both opponents off their hands.

Low Boat is Enough for Yoon

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Brian Yoon bet 1,000 from the big blind on a board of {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and got a call from a player in early position, while a third player mucked. The river brought the {6-Hearts} and Yoon bet 2,700. His opponent thought about 30 seconds and called, and Yoon showed {k-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the underfull to take the pot.

Yoon Gets There to Bust Sova

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

"Oh crap," Robert Sova said while the dealer announced a seat open at one of the corner tables. A quick look at the board of {Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} revealed top set for Sova with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} while Brian Yoon in the big blind had the {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a rivered straight. Sova quickly grabbed his belongings and headed to the rail while Yoon bumped his stack up as a result.

Lakemeier Snap-Folds an Overpair

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

In a four-handed pot, Jens Lakemeier bet 1,200 from the cutoff after {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts} flopped. The next two players mucked but big blind Stephen Graner dropped in a raise to 3,100. The bet was barely in the pot before Lakemeier mucked {q-}{q-} face-up with a smile.
