Even the Losses Aren't Bad for Stybaniewicz

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Krzysztof Stybaniewicz has been having a nice go of it on Day 1c here, building up to nearly double the starting stack. As evidence of how things are going for him, consider that even when he got aces cracked, he still lost the minimum.

He said he three-bet an early opener to 2,000 and got action from a cold-caller in the blinds and the opener. A {9-}{3-}{2-} with one heart flop led to a bet of 2,500 from the American and two calls. Things checked through on the {q-Hearts} and {j-Hearts} and Stybaniewicz showed down his aces, losing to a set of nines from the player in the blinds with minimal damage to his own stack.

Butteroni Folds Versus Shove

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Former November Niner Federico Butteroni raised to 650 on the button and picked up two callers in the blinds. On the {Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, Butteroni bet 900, the small blind shoved around 9,000 and the big blind folded. Butteroni gave it around a minute of thought before folding.

The small blind proudly showed his {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} as he raked in the pot. Despite the fold, Butteroni still commands one of the largest stacks in the room.

Glaser Commands Respect

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

No-Limit Hold'em may not be the game British mixed game specialist Benny Glaser is known for, the three-time bracelet still commands respect at the table. It showed in a blind battle with Glaser and a short-stacked opponent.

On an {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, the big blind had 2,500 in front of him with 6,700 behind. Glaser moved all in and the big blind tanked for over two minutes before calling off with {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. Glaser frowned and tabled {K-Spades}{J-Spades} for the nut flush draw, which bricked on the {2-Clubs} turn and {Q-Diamonds} river.

Greenwood Wastes No Time Getting There

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We found Sam Greenwood with 3,500 in front of him in the big bind and thinking of whether to call a shove for about 15,500 from an early-position player. Greenwood dropped in a chip to call and turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. He was behind {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} but that changed quickly as {3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flopped, giving him the nut flush. The {4-Hearts} turn ended what little chance Greenwood's foe had.

Pham Busts One with Drama Included

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Four tables in the satellite / secondary cash game section are also in use and among those to be seated there are Martin Jacobson, Gianluca Speranza, Marc Macdonnell, Jan-Eric Schwippert and Toby Joyce. On the table of the Irishman, some drama took place after a player insisted he had announced call to a reraise, which the dealer and other players said had not been the case and two chips worth 5,500 were tossed out already.

It was ruled as a forced reraise to 5,400 and Tien Pham then moved all in to see the other player call it off for around 17,500 in chips with the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Pham had the dominating {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and the board came {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Pham was involved in the next two hands, losing the first and taking down the other, and appears to be one of the biggest stacks in the section.

Hope Busts One

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

After a raise by Daniel Hope and a call by Lawrence Ma on the button, the big blind moved all in for 6,925 in total. Hope asked for a count and called, as did Ma. On the {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, Hope continued for 3,500 and was called before a second barrel worth 3,500 on the {5-Hearts} turn was for 4,500.

Again Ma tossed in calling chips to see the {Q-Spades} on the river. Hope bet 11,500 and Ma eventually folded, Hope turned over {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a straight and dragged in the pot while the all in player briefly showed his cards before they ended up in the muck.

"I thought you had a set and was hoiping the board doesn't pair," Hope said and Ma replied "I had pocket jacks."

Kuo Gets Caught

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With the board reading {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, Kitty Kuo bet 1,100 and her opponent called. On the {3-Diamonds} river, Kuo opted for a bet of 2,300 and her opponent called without much hesitation.

Sheepishly, Kuo was forced to show {A-Hearts}{5-Spades} for a mere ace-high hand. Her opponent rolled over {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for a flush and scooped up the pot.
