Finger Holds the Third Barrel

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ari Engel opened for 3,700 in middle position and got action from Martin Finger on the button. Engel slowed down with check-calls of 6,000 and 18,000 as {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} rolled off the deck. On the river, Finger considered for awhile before waving the white flag and showing {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a whiffed combo draw. Betting would likely not have worked out for him since Engel tabled {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for aces up.

Volkoff Busts to Demlakian

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Tamara Volkoff
Tamara Volkoff

Late on Day 1b, Tamara Volkoff tripled up in fortunate fashion by cracking the pocket aces of Ken Demlakian and both somehow ended up on the same table again after Demlakian was moved to one seat over. Both would clash again now and all chips ended up in the middle of the table.

Lee Armstrong raised and Volkoff called on the button, Demlakian filled up from the small blind. The flop fell {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and was checked to Volkoff, who bet 5,500. Both Demlakian and Armstrong called to see the {J-Hearts} on the turn and again it checked to Volkoff, who moved all in. Demlakian asked for a count and, once it was deemed to be for 65,800, he announced the call to force out Armstrong.

Tamara Volkoff: {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Ken Demlakian: {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

No card in the deck could avoid the elimination of Volkoff and she said "alright, good luck guys" even before the meaningless {5-Spades} hit on the river.

Young Can't Find a Fold

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Max Young bet 10,000 into a pot of about 26,000 on a completed board of {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}. His opponent on his left in the cutoff had a raise to 35,000 in and Young was in the tank. He called after a minute and couldn't beat {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

Thomas Runs into Aces and is Eliminated

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

It folded to Russell Thomas in the cutoff who moved all in for his last 25,000 chips. It folded to Tobias Hausen in the big blind who called.

Russell Thomas: {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Tobias Hausen: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

The flop came {q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} giving Thomas an open-ended straight draw. But there was no further help on the {7-Hearts} turn or {k-Clubs} river and Thomas was sent to the rail at the beginning of the final level of the day.

Stuer and Butteroni Chop It Up

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

After a raise to 4,700 and a call by the hijack, Julian Stuer three-bet to 16,100 in the cutoff with 59,000 behind and Federico Butteroni on the button gave it some thought before clicking it up to 36,000. Dennis Huntly in the big blind seemed interested but folded, as did the initial raiser and the hijack. Stuer moved all in and Butteroni called.

Julian Stuer: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Federico Butteroni: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

"I had king jack of spades and kind of wanted to see the flop," Huntly said before the flop fell {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The split pot was locked up and the {5-Hearts} turn and {4-Diamonds} river didn't matter.
