Li Flops a Flush

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Thomas Muehloecker's raise was three-bet to 2,700 by Vicent Li and a short-stacked Jozef Ricciardello jammed for 7,650. Muehloecker folded, but Li called and tabled the {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Ricciardello was ahead with the {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, but that all but changed with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop. Suddenly, Ricciardello needed an ace or queen to remain in contention, but found no help on the {2-Spades} turn and {J-Spades} river.

Luke Eliminated After Turker Double-Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Sid Luke
Sid Luke

On a {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, Sid Luke bet 6,000 and Sadan Turker moved all in for 19,600. A third player in the hand tank-folded.

"You want me to call you?" Luke asked.

"Always," replied Turker, before Luke called.

Turker: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Luke: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

"The ace of spades!" called Luke, but it was not to be. The turn {4-Hearts} and river {5-Diamonds} changed nothing and he was left short.

He put his chips in pre-flop next hand. The two other players checked down a board of {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts}. One forced the other out on the river and showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. Luke turned over {10-Spades}{9-Clubs} and was eliminated.

Haddad Calls Down Zobian

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Aram Zobian raised to 900 from the cutoff and was called by Majed Haddad in the big blind. Haddad proceeded to check-call 850 on the {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop and did so again for 4,200 on the {7-Spades} turn. After the {3-Spades} river, Haddad checked once more and Zobian bet 10,300 with 11,125 behind.

Haddad gave it some thought and called to get shown the {J-Spades}{10-Hearts} for jack-high, he triumphantly turned over the {J-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a pair of nines. Zobian gasped "what is going on dude" and lost a decent chunk of his stack.

Day 1c Enters Dinner Break With New Record in Sight

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
AU$50,000 Challenge Winner Toby Lewis
AU$50,000 Challenge Winner Toby Lewis

With more than 450 satellite qualifiers, there was little doubt that the 2019 Aussie A$ 10,600 Millions Main Event wouldn't disappoint and a new record is looming as the 800-entry field of the previous edition is not far off in the dinner break on Day 1c. Thus far, 359 players entered the third and final starting day, which has created a field of 792 entries. The registration remains open for the remainder of the day and the first level of Day 2, and the team at the Crown Casino in Melbourne will very likely be able to confirm a new record attendance soon.

More than 50 players have already been eliminated in the first four levels of the day with such notables as Julien Martini, Jack O'Neill, Didier Guerin, Andrew Hulme, Victor Chong, Andras Nemeth, Kitty Kuo and Gautam Dhingra all among the casualties. Martini lasted all but half an hour when he spiked top set with a pair of aces only for Weiming Yu to send the Frenchman packing with the turned straight.

O'Neill ran with kings into aces and Nemeth was ousted by Ryan Otto, who flopped a full house with jacks. Hulme suffered a deadly blow when he got it in with top two pair against the top pair and top kicker of Sosia Jiang, who immediately improved to the superior two pair on the turn.

Among the big stacks heading into dinner are Korea's Jongwon Yoon (122,000), Ryan Otto (118,750), Tobias Ziegler (90,000), Farid Jattin (83,000) and Joni Joihnikimainen (75,000). All of them would bag an above-average stack at the end of level seven in the early morning hours if they were to keep up their momentum in the remaining three levels.

Defending Main Event champion Toby Lewis was busy taking down the A$ 50,000 Challenge on an unscheduled third day and soon after jumped into the Main Event to head into dinner slightly below the average stack. Further former Aussie Millions champions in contention also include Ami Barer and Shurane Vijayaram.
