Katz Doesn't Need $200

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

The board read {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades} when Cary Katz bet 2,875 out of the small blind with his trademark motion that see the chips slide in a long line. Ben Lamb asked Katz if he knew how much he was betting and then called from the hijack. There was one more player involved in the hand, but he released his hand from the button.

The {9-Clubs} river saw Katz threw forward 10,000 and Lamb tanked for a few moments. "I'm not cheap like you, I offer you $200 [if you show me the hand]," Lamb said and showed he was folding {10-Clubs}.

Katz, however, wasn't interested in the money and sent his cards towards the dealer.

Jouhkimainen Doubles Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Action was on a {j-Clubs}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} board and two players checked to Joni Jouhkimainen who bet 1,500. The small blind check-raised to 6,500 and the other player in the hand called.

Jouhkimainen then re-raised all in for 18,900. The small blind moved all in and the other player folded.

Joni Jouhkimainen: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Small Blind: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

Jouhkimainen would need to dodge spades and the river {j-Diamonds} was safe. The player who folded muttered something about rivering a full house, but Jouhkimainen's straight was good and he doubled to around 50,000.

Muehloecker Scoops Gigantic Pot in Flush-over-Flush Setup

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Thomas Muehloecker
Thomas Muehloecker

With roughly 9,000 in the pot and {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} on the table, Thomas Muehloecker fired 6,000 from the button after his opponent checked from the hijack. That was when the encounter got spicy as Muehloecker saw the other player check-raise for half of his stack, making it 20,000. Muehloecker called.

The river was the {9-Spades} and action checked to Muehloecker who had about 28,000 left. He announced all-in bet to cover his rival's 20,000, and the other player didn't take much time before putting his chips into the middle.

Muehloecker tabled {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flopped nut flush, delivering heartbreaking news to his opponent. "Oooh," he exclaimed and opened {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} before leaving the table.

Game Over for Davies

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Scott Davies
Scott Davies

Scott Davies and Nicolas Majeau were involved in a three-bet pot that led to the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and the chips went in with Davies at risk holding the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}. He was in dire shape as Majeau held {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} for the superior pair and better heart redraw.

After the {6-Hearts} turn, Davies picked up some chop outs but the {2-Clubs} river was a blank.

2018 Main Event Champion Toby Lewis's Cover is Blown

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Toby Lewis
Toby Lewis

Toby Lewis opened to 800 from under the gun.

A conversation then sprung up at the table about Lewis, and the fact not only that he won the 2018 Aussie Millions Main Event, or that he won his third Aussie Millions title earlier this week, but the fact that his face is adorning one of the walls here at the Crown poker room.

One player said she figured it out when comparing the picture on the wall to Lewis' face, whereas another said he recognised the accent of the British player.

Meanwhile, in the hand, the small blind called and Matthias Eibinger three-bet to 5,400 in the big blind. Both Lewis and the other player foldd and Eibinger took down the pot.

Obara's Overbet Does the Trick

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Jun Obara
Jun Obara

Action was on a {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} board and one player had checked to Jun Obara, who bet 18,125 into a pot of just 6,000.

His opponent was contemplating his decision, asking exactly how much the bet was and how much Obara had behind. Eventually, he called and Obara opened {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for a set.

His opponent flashed {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Obara took down the pot.

Madsen Shoves on River

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Jeff Madsen was in early position but he acted last in a three-way pot, with the action seen on the {10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop. Madsen fired 1,700 and he received calls from Jan Suchanek and Dean Blatt.

The {6-Diamonds} turn was checked to Madsen again and he wagered 3,025. Suchanek let his hand go but Blatt expressed interest in seeing the river, calling.

The {5-Spades} was a blank and Blatt checked one more time. Madsen took all his chips and put them in play, shoving for just over 11,000. Blatt waived the white flag and Madsen took it down.

Cheung Dodges Further Damage

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Sparrow Cheung was in the cutoff, betting 3,500 into about 7,500 when a player in middle position checked the {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} turn. The {6-Diamonds} completed the board and the first player checked again. Cheung thought for about 10 seconds and then opted to check back, which proved to be the right decision as his opponent river a full house with {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

Savva Eliminated After Rollercoaster of All Rollercoasters

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

There was a commotion coming from Table 48 with an all-in in progress between Natasha Savva and Zachary Tay.

Natasha Savva: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Zachary Tay: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Savva needed to catch up, but the {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop had given her opponent a set. The table erupted as the {j-Hearts} came on the turn, giving Savva a straight.

However, the {2-Hearts} came on the river and the table erupted again as Tay rivered a backdoor flush to send Savva to the rail.

She magnanimously shook the hands of everyone at the table, even Tay, before exiting the tournament area.

Campbell Eliminated by Shak

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Rob Campbell
Rob Campbell

A frustrating Day 1c in the 2020 Aussie Millions Main Event has come to an end for Rob Campbell as he was just eliminated by Dan Shak.

Rob Campbell: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Dan Shak: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

It was a classic flip for Campbell who was at risk for around 10,000 and he found no help on a board of {k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.
