Women's Poker Spotlight: Anna Wroblewski

Anna Wroblewski
Anna Wroblewski
Four foot eleven inch Anna Wroblewski has enjoyed a rookie year on the tournament circuit that would be any player's envy. As the legend goes, Anna was working a $10/hr job as a receptionist back in April 2007, when her boss gave her a $400 loan to play poker with. She took that money to the Bellagio where she sat in a $15-$30 limit hold'em game and booked a $600 win. With those winnings, she bought herself into a satellite for a $2,000 tournament at the Bellagio Five-Star Classic. Anna placed 16th in the tournament, winning just over $7,000. After paying her boss back, Anna played a satellite for the next day's $3,000 event, won her seat, and then turned around and won the event for over $300,000! She finished off April by cashing at the WPT Championships, and winning the Ladies Event at the WSOP-Circuit stop at Caesar's Palace. That's one helluva month!

Anna has enjoyed a great run here at the Aussie Millions, making two final tables in the preliminary events. She finished 7th in the $1,000 pot-limit hold'em event and finished 4th in the $1,000 NLHE with rebuys. She faces a star-studded table today in the main event, with Cricketer Shane Warne seated to her right, and WSOP bracelet winner Alex Kravchenko across the table.

Lechich Scoops Big Early Pot

Tino Lechich
Tino Lechich
Mark Parrott limped in from under-the-gun and Patrick Fletcher bumped it up to 400 to go. Tino Lechich flat called and the action folded to Parrott who also called as the three players took a flop of {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Parrott led at the flop with a big bet of 2,000 chips. Fletcher raised his eyebrows at the size of the bet, took a glance at Lechich and folded his hand. Lechich thought for a moment before making the call.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Parrott fires out another 3,000 chip bet. Lechich instantly raised it up to 6,000 and Parrott calls.

The river is the {4-Diamonds} and Parrott leads for the third time in the hand with a 5,000 chip bet. Lechich announces he is all in, for an additional 7,000 which just covers his opponent. Parrot goes into the tank and eventually folds, saying he folded a set of fives. Lechich flashed the {8-Clubs} as he rakes in a huge early pot!

John "Schecky" Caldwell Eliminated

John Caldwell opens from the cutoff for 350. The button and the big blind both call. The flop comes {6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts}. The big blind checks, and Caldwell leads at the pot for 1,000. The button makes it 2,500. The big blind calls, and Caldwell moves in over the top for his last 6,850.

After a long think, the button calls, as does the big blind.

The turn is the {Q-Clubs} - both players check

The river is the {8-Spades}. The big blind checks, and the button makes it 5,500. The big blind folds, and the hands are shown

Caldwell {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

The river makes the opponents straight, and Caldwell is eliminated from the tournament.
