Berkowitz Cracks Simon's Kings

A player had opened to 2,300 from middle position before Steven Berkowitz three-bet to 6,200 from the hijack. On the button, Mark Simon jammed for 44,500. The opener folded and Berkowitz called off his 40,000 stack after some deliberation.

Berkowitz was in rough shape with the dominated pair until the 10♣6♣4♥ flop gave him top set. The board ran out J♦Q♣ as Simon could not find the correct paint card, and his kings were cracked by Berkowitz who doubled.

Simon was eliminated by Nick Pupillo a couple hands later.

Funaro Gets Back at Yanovsky

Frank Funaro raised to 2,000 from under the gun and then called when Eric Yanovsky three-bet to 7,400 on the button.

On a flop of 8♣7♥6♣, Funaro checked and Yanovsky checked it back to the 2♣ turn. Funaro check-called for 6,500.

The 7♠ came on the river and both checked once more. Funaro tabled the 5♥5♣ and that won the pot.

A player in early position led for 5,500, only to see Stephen Lateano raise to 13,500, and his opponent called.

On the 2♥ river, it checked to Lateano who bet 12,000, just under a third of the pot, and his opponent sigh-called after some deliberation. He got the bad news as Lateano tabled K♥4♥ for a rivered flush to win the pot.

His opponent Matthew Iles in the big blind instantly said "that's not good" after which he rolled over the K♠8♣ for the inferior kicker.

Two blanks followed on the 3♥ turn and 4♦ river.

"I didn't like the table anyways," he said on the way out. Iles then re-entered and got a seat ... one table over.

Yanovsky flashed the 4♦2♥ and Funaro mucked.
