At 3 p.m. local time today, Casino Malta will once again be filled to the brim with some of the best PLO players from around the world for Day 1b of the €10,300 PLO Grand Slam Championship. On day 1a, 79 entries were made in the flagship event of the Diamond Poker Series, of which 21 made it through to Day 2. With the guaranteed prize pool set at €2,000,000, many of the eliminated players will be enticed to try again on Day 1b, expected to be joined by some fresh faces.

The chiplead on Day 1a ended up in the hands of German high-stakes poker veteran Ole Schemion, who increased the starting stack of 200,000 to a whopping 1,829,000 over the course of ten levels. Other big stacks included Andras Nemeth, Stanislav Zegal, Espen Myrmo, Gergo Nagy, and Dario Alioto.

Gleissner Wins Four-Way

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Pavel Izotov raised to 2,500 in the cutoff. Bernd Gleissner called on the button, and Hossein Ensan and Tobias Hausen came along in the blinds.

The 937 flop was checked by the quartet, and the Q turn was checked to Gleissner as well. He bet 5,000, only getting Ensan along to the 4 river.

The remaining duo quickly checked to showdown. Both players were reluctant to show their hand, but eventually Gleissner tabled KQ32 to take down the pot.

River Bet Wins Yankov Four-Bet Pot

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Tomasz Kozub raised to 3,500 under the gun. Krasimir Yankov upped the ante to 12,000 in the cutoff, which Nino Pansier reraised to 41,000 on the button.

Kozub quickly got out of the way, but Yankov decided to call. The pair then checked through the 9Q4 flop and 2 turn. Yankov bet 31,000 on the 8 river, getting a quick fold from Pansier to take the pot.

Amot Starts Hot

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Mads Amot raised to 3,500 under the gun. Martin Nielsen defended his big blind and checked to Amot on the 2A7 flop. Amot continued for 5,000, seeing Nielsen raise to 15,000.

Amot called to the 4 turn, where Nielsen sized up to 35,000. Again, Amot called. On the 2 river, Nielsen nearly reached the end of his shot clock before he checked. Amot quickly checked behind.

Nielsen showed 9865 for some bricked draws, meaning Amot's AK75 was enough to win the pot.
