Kara Scott Makes a Tough Laydown

Kara Scott
Kara Scott
Robert Firestone opened for 3,000. Kara Scott reraised to 10,000. Firestone thought for a minute or so and then pulled out a tower of red chips. He reraised enough to put Scott all in. She had around 12,000 remaining and agonized over the call. She headed into the tank for several minutes as a flock of media types surrounded her table. Photographers jostled for position to snap a couple of photos of the EPT hostess. She sighed a couple of times before she folded her hand.

"Show the bluff!" barked Ramzi Jelassi at the other end of the table.

Firestone tossed his hand into the muck as the dealer pushed him the pot.

Doubling Up

- David Hovath, with pocket sevens against Pantelis Pavlis' pocket fives. It looked like a split when the board came down {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts}... but the river was the {4-Diamonds} and the seven kicker took it.

- Robert Firestone, through Ivo Donev. Donev was holding {A-?} {K-?} and Firestone pocket nines; the flop had both a king and a nine on it...

- Daniel Stern, who somehow had the good fortune to get his chips in with {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} against the dominated {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} of Milan Andrejkovics.

Szabolcs Attila Saskoy Doubles Up

I caught the action a little late. Szabolcs Attila Saskoy from Hungary was all in pre-flop for roughly 25,000. Ciprian Hrisca from Romania headed into the tank and eventually called.

Hrisca: {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}
Saskoy: {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs}

The flop was {K-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} . Hrisca took the lead with top pair, but he needed to fade the flush draw. The turn was the {Q-Clubs} . Saskoy jumped out of his seat when he turned a flush. However, Saskoy quickly realized that the same card that gave him the lead also gave Hrisca two pair as he picked up outs for a full house. The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Saskoy doubled up.
