Disaster for Steven van Zadelhoff that not even a talking car can save. Ludovic Lacay raised, Alexandre Andermatt pushed from the small blind and after some serious thought, the Dutchman also pushed while Lacay folded.
Van Zadelhoff:
Andermatt:
was the board that van Zadelhoff looked disgustedly at before finding out he was actually covered and was eliminated.
Raul Mestre made it 10,000 from the button only for fellow Spaniard Juan Manuel Pastor to push from the big blind. However, in what can only be described as a rush of blood, Pastor immediately revealed his prematurely before Mestre had made a decision.
"Floor!"
Of course, the ruling was that the all-in stood, and Mestre could either call or fold. The hesitation proved that Mestre didn't have much to brag about, as it was only 20,200 more to call.
In the end, this figure was too much for Mestre to resist and so he called, although with a slightly red face as he meekly tabled .
The board punished Pastor for his faux pas, the followed by a harmless turn and river.
Pastor exits in 37th place, but the following question will surely fester away in the back of his mind for a good few days yet...Would Mestre have folded if he hadn't seen the cards?
The river of what was approaching a 100,000 pot on a board was checked by Sebastian Ruthenberg and Joris Jaspers. Ruthenberg showed and Jaspers mucked, but Ruthenberg asked to see the cards that Jaspers had been betting, and he had to get a ruling to try and do so. But he did not get his way, as Jaspers had position and could muck his cards after Ruthenberg showed. The consolation was that Ruthenberg is now vying for the chip lead.
In what must have been one of the biggest pots of the tournament, Dario Minieri got his whole stack in preflop after a massive raising war against Raul Mestre, who had the Italian covered.
Dario:
Raul:
The board ran down and the Italian's rail groaned before clapping off their hero. Mestre must be rivaling Maceiras for the chip lead now.
Juha Helppi pushed for around 35,000 on the button only to be called by Pavel Blatny in the big blind. As Blatny turned over , it quickly emerged that Helppi had been caught red-handed with a paltry .
A three arrived on the flop, but the turn brought a queen, leaving Helppi with five outs that never came.
As Freddy Mercury once sang, although never about poker, "Another one bites the dust."
