Mizrachi Wins Huge Pot With Quads

He's actually happier than this photo shows.
He's actually happier than this photo shows.
In a three-way pot, Robert Mizrachi called Julian Thew's 7,000 bet on a {4-Clubs} {9-Spades} {7-Clubs} flop before a third player pushed all-in with {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. Thew pushed behind with {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} and Mizrachi quickly called with {4-Spades} {4-Hearts}.

The turn brought the {J-Hearts} but the river was the {4-Diamonds} making Mizrachi quads as he eliminated the other player and doubled up through Thew.

Mizrachi is up to 120,000 while Thew slips to 68,000.

Boeken Gets Lucky

Noah Boeken is up to 90,000 after some extraordinary good fortune.

He raised to 1,100 only for the gent to his left to shove for 5,100. The gent to his left flatted with 50,000 behind, and Boeken called too.

Flop: {8-?} {9-?} {10-?}

Now the gent with 50,000 behind put all of those 50,000 chips in the middle. Boeken was, obviously, holding {6-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} and called. The hapless post-flop shover turned over aces, the hapless preflop shover turned over {A-?} {K-?}, and that was the end of it.

Meet Luis Ramon Rufas Acin

A new potential chip leader has been identified.

Mr. Luis Ramon Rufas Acin (so good they named him four times!) was last seen calling a preflop raise to 1,500 but then folding and wearily rubbing his eyes when the original raiser bet out on the {2-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {A-Clubs} flop.

Nevertheless, even after that he is in possession of 120,000 and well in contention for the lead at this time.

Kravchenko Crippled

Nice shirt
Nice shirt
Alex Kravchenko has been crippled in what even his opponent was loudly telling the whole table and anyone else who would listen was a massive cooler.

The bulk of the chips went in on the river, the board reading {7-?} {A-?} {K-?} {7-?} {3-?}.

Check out these hands:

Kravchenko: {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}
Mr. Opponent: {K-Clubs} {K-Spades}

The luckless Kravchenko is down to just 3,500 and, barring miraculous recoveries, is not long for this tournament.

Thorson Doubles Through Houghton

Houghton - always the doubler, never the doublee
Houghton - always the doubler, never the doublee
We caught up with William Thorson as he bet 3,000 on a {5-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {7-Spades} flop. Laurence Houghton raised to cover Thorson, and with a sigh he tossed the last of his chips in. On their backs.

Thorson: {5-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}
Houghton: {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}

Turn: {9-Diamonds} to give Thorson the straight

River: {10-Clubs} to harmlessly improve Thorson's straight

Houghton slips down to 30,000, while Thorson enjoys a full a full double up to around 25,000.

Half-Baked Bluff for Demidov

Er...
Er...
Ivan Demidov woefully mistimed a bluff, betting 6,000 on the river of an {8-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} board. His opponent flatted, and Demidov was forced to turn over the rather lacklustre {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. His opponent turned over {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} to take the pot, to cheering from his buddies at the rail.

Demidov dips to 30,000.

Powerhuis

Has every right to smirk
Has every right to smirk
Just before the break, an interesting bit of Veldhuis aggression took place, and indeed it seemed to pay off.

Martin Wendt raised under the gun and Negreanu and one other player called. Over to Lex Veldhuis in the big blind, who reraised to 5,100. Negreanu was the only caller.

They saw a {J-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {K-Hearts} flop and Veldhuis bet out 7,100. After some brief and silent deliberation, Negreanu folded.

Woodward In The Hunt

Matt Woodward picked up a few chips after betting 8,000 on the river of a {7-Hearts} {8-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {10-Spades} and flipping {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts} once he was called.

The EPT Monte Carlo runner-up looks to be climbing over the 70,000 mark.
