Kristoffer Thorsson v Pascal Lefrancois

There is a wonderful little battle going on between Kristoffer Thorsson and Pascal Lefrancois. Lefrancois has position on Thorsson but the Swede seems to be using his larger stack as leverage to so far win the little skirmishes they have been having. Here is a good example of the action between the two.

Vladislav Varlashin opens the action to 17,000 and Thorsson makes the call on the button before Lefrancois squeezes from the Small Blind with a bet of 44,000. Varlashin folds and Thorsson calls. The flop is {5-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades} and Lefrancois bets 42,000 and Thorsson calls. The turn is {q-Hearts} and Lefrancois thinks for a bit before counting out a bet of 63,000. Thorsson moves all-in and is forces the fold from Lefrancois.

Lefrancois ~273,000

Thorsson ~770,000

Fernandez Doubles Through Pantaleo

Leo Fernandez
Leo Fernandez

Giuseppe Pantaleo is down to 350,000 after doubling up Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez.

Pantaleo opened for 17,000 in the hijack and faced a reraise from Fernandez in the cutoff. Pantaleo went all in to cover Fernandez who after a while in the tank called all in, and they weer on their backs.

Pantaleo: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Fernandez: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Board: 7h3had3sqd]

Fernandez' double up was to 330,000, and the Argentinian is back in the game.

ElkY Gets Lucky

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

Andrey Danilyuk raised under the gun and Carlos Lopez Neira flat-called on the button. Danilyuk quickly got out of the way when Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier shoved from the big blind, but it had been rather a sneaky call from Neira as he called all in in a second.

ElkY: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Neira: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

But wait! Here comes the ElkY run-good...

Board: {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

ElkY spiked his nine on the turn to eliminate the unfortunate Neira and is now up to 410,000 - not bad, given that he started the day with just 63,000. We could yet see our first ever two-time EPT winner - not only ElkY, but also his fellow countryman Jan Boubli who won this event way back in Season 2, are both still very much in the running.

Miller Grinds Down Margets and Radoslaw

Just as I was about to write a post saying how the action had settled down and a touch of normality had been restored, there was a three way all-in!

Jedynak Radoslaw moved all from under the gun for 142,000, Leo Margets was next to act and called the all-in, though Radoslaw had her covered. The action folded around to Arie Ori Miller on the button, who first asked Margets how many chips she had before making the call.

Margets: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Radoslaw: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Miller: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The flop came down {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts} prompting a groan from both Margets and Miller as their opponent had flopped a set of jacks, but Miller soon realised he was in the lead as he had flopped top set and nobody held a heart in the hand.

Turn: {4-Clubs}

River: {7-Hearts}

With that Margets and Radoslaw left the table as Miller stacked his 340,000 chips.

Matthias De Meulder Doubles up

Team PokerStars Pro Matthias De Meulder has just doubled up and here is how it happened.

The button moved out of the way and De Meulder shoved all-in for 93,340. Miller asked for a count before finally folding. Radoslaw decided it was his moment and made the call.

De Meulder: {a-Clubs} {k-Diamonds}

Radoslaw: {a-Spades} {q-Hearts}

Board: {6-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {k-Spades}
