Abeca-Ceasing To Exist

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Michel Abecassis opened the pot with a raise from middle position, and Tayfur Dag three-bet to 3,800. When it came back around to Abecassis, he shoved in for what looked like 19,725. Dag spent a long while in the tank before surrendering his cards, and we turned our attention away from the table.

Less than a minute later, though, Abecassis came walking past us and toward the rail, and we spun our head back around to see his former chair empty of both he and his chips. We're not sure exactly what happened, but Michel Abecassis won't be sticking around long enough for his dinner break tonight.

Dinner Break for Half the Field

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Half the field are now on a 75 minute dinner break. The other half will have a 15 minute break before level seven will commence for them. The two halves will swap around after that before all remaining players will reconvene for level eight.

Nice Timing for Moorman

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Getting the most value out of a hand in poker has a lot to do with timing. Just ask Chris Moorman.

He cold four-bet a hand and managed to get it through. The very next hand he cold four-bet once more, but this time he had pocket kings and both his opponents went with their holdings -- ace-king and pocket queens. Moorman's hand help up to triple him up to 75,000 chips.

Barbero's Opponent Folds Jacks

A player in middle position opened with a raise to 1,150 before play folded to Nacho Barbero in the hijack seat. He three-bet to 2,800. Play moved to Jeff Hakim in the small blind and he made the call. The original raiser also called and the flop came down {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The first two players both checked to Barbero and he fired 4,800. Hakim folded and the other player followed suit, folding the {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} face up. Barbero only showed the {A-Hearts} as he was pushed the pot and saw his stack climb to 56,000 in chips.

Things Get Just a Bit Easier

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jake Cody - raise your hand if you've just been eliminated
Jake Cody - raise your hand if you've just been eliminated

Well, Table 16 has just gotten a bit easier. We missed the hand that sealed his fate, but WPT, WSOP, and EPT champion Jake Cody has been sent off to wander the city streets following this Day 1 elimination.

Also falling by the wayside in the last few minutes was one half of our November Nine contingent here in Barcelona. Ukraine's great hope Anton Makiievskyi was just spotted making his exit from the room, and it's up to Martin Staszko to represent November's cast for the rest of the day today.

Tough Tables Assembling

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

As tables break and empty chairs become refilled with fresh faces, a number of interesting tables are coming together.

Table 12 finds Sebastian Ruthenberg (Seat 1), Ramon Cserei (2), Tristan Clemencon (6), and Leo Margets (10) all sitting together, and it's Ruthenberg driving most of that action.

Table 16 is an awfully tough place to be right now, as well. That table holds Benny Spindler (3), Nacho Barbero (4), Bryn Kenney (6), Jeff Hakim (7), and Jake Cody (9), making it undoubtedly the toughest table in town.

Also of note is Table 29 where we find Melanie Weisner (4), Markus Lehmann (6), Davidi Kitai (8), and Antonin Teisseire (10) battling each other.

Soft tables are starting to disappear in this room as our field thins itself of the riff-raff.

Klimciauskas versus Selbst Again

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Domantas Klimciauskas and Vanessa Selbst tangled in a big pot earlier where the American got the better of the Lithuanian. Round two just occurred and it was a battle to the death. This time Klimciauskas got the better of the battle but the cards didn't come to his support.

Selbst five-bet shoved preflop with ace-queen and Domantas Klimciauskas called all-in with pocket kings. The window card was an ace though, and that was that for Klimciauskas. Selbst is up to 92,000 as a result.

Top Two for Reijmer

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

After one player limped in from under the gun, Daniel Reijmer raised from the next seat to 1,100. Everyone folded back to the limper and he made the call.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and the first player checked. Reijmer opted to let the turn be seen for free when he checked behind.

The turn was the {A-Clubs}. With four Broadway cards in the middle of the felt and three clubs, both players checked again and the river landed with the {Q-Spades} to pair the board. The first player checked and Reijmer bet 2,000. His opponent called.

Reijmer tabled the {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} for top two pair and his opponent showed just the {A-Diamonds} before mucking his hand.
