Jan Collado has cashed four times on the EPT and three alone last season. He was going along well here today until Nikolas Liakos sucked out on him in a pot worth more than 40,000 chips.
The two were in late position and and a preflop raising war saw the chips in the middle, with the Swede being the all-in player with 21,475.
Collado:
Liakos:
The board ran to make Liakos trips. Collado is down to 15,500.
Thomas Middleton opened to 1,200 in middle position, and he found a call from the player two to his left, Adolfo Baque. "Middy" bet the flop, and he fired again on the turn. Baque called the flop bet, but on the turn, he stacked out a big raise to put the full pressure on his opponent. Middleton only had a few thousand chips left, and he shrugged and stuck them in there with . He was drawing dead. Baque turned up , and the river was a mere formality before Middleton wished his table luck and headed for the door.
We're seven levels deep in this Day 1b, and we've got one more break upon us. It's another 20 minutes, and we'll be back with the last two levels in just a bit.
With just 3,400 chips left, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier open-shoved with from middle position. In the small blind, Diogo Manuel Sampaio Pereira Soares Borges (how about we call him Borges?) announced the call, and he showed up to flip for the knockout.
And the knockout he'd get. The board ran , and the Elk has been gunned down.
The player in the cutoff seat limped in and Eugene Katchalov raised from the small blind to 1,700. Only the limper made the call and the flop came down . Katchalov fired out 2,500, only to see his opponent raise to 6,000. Katchalov gave it up and surrendered a few chips.
Nikolaus Teichert started things off with a raise from early position to 1,200. Tim Marsters made the call from the cutoff seat and then 2009 EPTWarsaw champion Christophe Benzimra called from the small blind. Two-time 2011 World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner and Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov was in the big blind and he also called to see the flop come down .
On the flop, Benzimra checked and Katchalov fired a bet of 2,500. Teichert called, Marsters folded and Benzimra called.
The turn brought the and Benzimra checked. Katchalov stayed on the post-flop accelerator and fired 8,000. Teichert folded and Benzimra called.
The river completed the board with the and Benzimra checked. Katchalov didn't slow down, raising his bet to 16,000 and tossing it in the middle. Benzimra tanked for a bit and then made the call. After he did, Katchalov tabled the for a flopped two pair. Benzimra mucked and Katchalov scooped the pot.
Two superstars of the PokerStars family (ElkY and Boris Becker) just clashed and it left the Frenchman in world of trouble.
There was a raise to 1,100 from mid position that ElkY called from the cut-off and Becker from the button. The flop came down and the aggressor continued for 2,150. ElkY called but Becker raised up to 6,100. The aggressor folded but ElkY tank-called.
The turn came and ElkY checked to face Becker's all-in push for 20,700. He took a few minutes but made the call with . It was no good though as Becker tabled for a set. The river came and ElkY dropped to 5,000, whereas Becker is up to around 60,000.
Guillaume Darcourt is doing some pretty good work here today, and we pick him up as he's involved in a heads-up pot on the turn. The board showed , and there was more than 25,000 in the pot when Darcourt bet 11,500. Alexandre Sikias was his lone opponent, and Sikias didn't waste too much time calling to see the fill out the board. After another check in front of him, Darcourt took his cue to bet 15,000 at the pot. Sikias only had 19,550 chips left in front of him, considering the play for more than 75% of his remaining stack. After a couple minutes of pained deliberation, he talked himself into the fold and quickly shooed his cards back to the dealer.
The man with the pink hair is on a charge, working his stack up onto our radar with about 84,000 in front of him.
