Matthias De Meulder Eliminated in 10th Place (€36,000)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Matthias De Meulder - 10th place
Matthias De Meulder - 10th place

Well, that was a pretty unkind end to the tournament of Belgian Team PokerStars Pro Matthias De Meulder. It was Tomeu Golima who got him, and the pot began with the Spaniard opening with a raise to 85,000. Dragan Kostic called on the button, and De Meulder cold-shoved for 505,000 over the top. Golima re-shoved, Kostic ducked out of the way, and the cards were on their backs with De Meulder at risk.

Showdown
De Meulder: {A-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Golima: {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts}

The {4-Spades} {2-Clubs} {6-Clubs} flop was safe and sound for the ace-ten, as was the {2-Diamonds} turn. De Meulder was one card from doubling back into contention, but the river was a cruel finish. The {K-Spades} dropped off the deck, giving the pot and the knockout to Golima.

De Meulder could only laugh at his misfortune as he paced around the room following his elimination, telling the story several times over to different groups of inquisitive media and players. He'll have to settle for a tenth-place showing worth €36,000, and the final nine have been redrawn without him.

We'll be right back with the lineup for the unofficial final table.

Marton Czuczor Eliminated in 11th Place (€36,000)

Marton Czuczor - 11th Place

Marton Czuczor was all in preflop with {A-}{10-} and up against the {K-}{J-} for chip leader Tomeu Gomila. Czuczor was the player at risk of elimination in the hand and needed to double up here to put himself back in the swing of things.

It wouldn't be in the cards for Czuczor as the flop contained a jack and gave Gomila the lead. He held from there and was able to send the short-stacked Czuczor to the rail in 11th place.

Massimilano Martinez Eliminated in 12th Place (€36,000)

In the cutoff seat, Isabel Clemente opened to 100,000, and Saar Wilf called on the button. From the blinds, Massimilano Martinez looked down at {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}, and that was plenty good enough to squeeze all in for about 1.3 million total. Clemente re-shoved, though, and Wilf ducked out of the way to let the two battle for the big pot. Martinez was slightly covered and at risk, and the news was not at all good for him as Clemente tabled her {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

Things only got worse from there for the Italian. The board ran out {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs}, and Clemente goes from an overpair to a set to a club flush to earn the knockout. It's the end of the day for Martinez, sent to the exit in 12th place with €36,000 to show for his work.

Marcos Fernandez Elimated in 13th Place (€29,000)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Marcos Fernandez came back from break as the short-stack with just 290,000. He was chip leader for long periods yesterday but the pack rounded on him when he moved all-in.

There was an under-the-gun raise and two calls before Fernanadez committed his remaining stack. All three called to go to the {q-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop where checks were order of the day.

The turn came {3-Clubs} and Saar Wild led from the small blind, prompting the other two players to fold. Wilf tabled {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and had Fernandez drawing dead with his {j-Spades}{6-Spades}. Ironically the river came {j-Hearts}, too little too late for Fernandez. He's out in 13th place.
