Rudolf Left Out in the Snow by Toth

Richard Toth
Richard Toth

Richard Toth is up to 55,000 chips after he took all of Rudolf Babayan's chips.

The Team PokerStars Pro opened from mid position and was called by Babayan in the small and the big blind. The flop fanned {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Toth's 1,700 c-bet was only called by Babayan.

The turn came {9-Clubs} and Babayan check-called a 3,000 bet to see the {q-Spades} river. He checked for a third time and his Hungarian opponent set him in for his last 7,000 or so. Babayan made quick decisions at every other juncture but when the question for his tournament life was at stake, he took his time.

Eventually he called and was shown {j-Clubs}{9-Spades} by Toth. That was good and Rudolf mucked his hand and made his exit into the snow.

Lezzi Flops The Nuts and Gets Paid Off

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

It must be nice to flop the nuts in a raised pot, something that just happened to Frenchman Antony Lezzi.

Ari Engel raised to 1,100 in early position and his only caller was Lezzi, who was seated in the big blind. The dealer got busy putting the first three community cards on show, {6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Without any hesitation, Lezzi lead into Engel with a 1,500 bet and Engel called.

The turn was the {5-Spades} and Lezzi lead again, this time increasing his bet to 3,100 and again Engel called. The {4-Clubs} river completed the community cards and Lezzi bet again, 4,200 was the amount.

Engel looked pained in his decision making, giving a sarcastic smile to his opponent before shaking his head. Eventually, Engel tossed in a single 5,000 chip and called.

Lezzi flipped over {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the flopped nuts and a disappointed Engel mucked his hand.

He Can't Helppi It

Three players saw a flop of {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, including Riccardo Piano, Rudolf Babayan, and Juha Helppi. Piano checked, Babayan bet 2,050, and Helppi called. Piano check-raised all in for around 11,500, Babayan folded, and Helppi snapped it off.

Piano: {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Helppi: {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Piano needed a seven, ten, or running pair cards to survive, but the turn and river came {k-Hearts}, {4-Clubs} respectively. He was eliminated, while Helppi chipped up to 75,000 chips.

Zabrovskiy Wins Hand Of Strange Lines

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

In order to be successful at poker you often have to think outside of the box and take unconventional lines to confuse your opponents; something that happened just now over on Table 8.

Melanie Weisner opened to 1,100 from under the gun and was called first by Mikhail Zabrovskiy in the hijack and then by British pro and former poker dealer Alex Goulder in the big blind. So far so good.

The trio watched on as the dealer put out the {7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop. Goulder checked, Weisner fired a continuation bet of 1,800 and Zabrovskiy called. Goulder, who was busy eating some fries, check-raised to 4,700 and received a very quick fold from Weisner. Zabrovskiy, however, called.

After such action on the flop, we were hoping for more fireworks on later streets but they failed to happen. Both players checked the {10-Spades} turn and the {4-Clubs} river, Zabrovskiy taking down the pot with his {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, which beat Goulder's {A-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Buchin Sent Back To Russia

We saw Dmitry Buchin rise from his chair and quickly made our way over to see him with {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} laid out in front of him on a {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} board. Unfortunately for him, Germany's Marius Pospiech held {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and had rivered a pair of aces to steal the pot.

From what we could piece together, the money went in on the turn when Pospiech "reluctantly" called Buchin. Whatever the case, a dejected Buchin took his leave from the Main Event.

Duhamel Dumped

We caught up with Jonathan Duhamel who was over railing the Eureka High Roller final table. Over railing the HR table you read? Not playing the main event?

That would be a negative. The Team PokerStars Pro informed us he shoved his last ten big blinds in from the small blind with pocket kings no less. The big blind called with ace-ten (as one always would) and spiked an ace on the turn.
