Tough Table Spotted

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

As the room fills up plenty of empty seats are taken by famous faces and we just spotted a very tough table.

The first player we spotted was Byron Kaverman who recently finished 34th in the WSOP Main Event for $229,281. A few seats over we recognized three players in a row and they are all very accomplished.

James Dempsey is the one out of position in this line up, and he's also the one with the biggest victories in live tournaments at this table. The man from Brighton has a World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker victory and his live earnings add up to almost two-million dollars.

Next in line is Dan O'Brien who had a nice summer saver back in July when he finished third in the Venetian Deep Stack Main Event for $122,485. O'Brien's biggest result came back in September 2012 when he finished fourth in the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event for €341,991. In total O'Brien has just shy of 2.2 million in live tournament earnings.

Last but certainly not least we spotted PokerStars Sports Star who has both impressive results on and off the felt. Moreira de Melo made the Master Classics of Poker final table in Amsterdam back in 2009 and just missed out on the EPT Barcelona final table in 2012. Off the felt Moreira de Melo has a bronze (Sydney 2000), silver (Athens 2004) and gold medal (Beijing 2008) at the Olympics in field hockey.

In total Moreira de Melo played 191 games for the Dutch field hockey team and scored 30 goals. Right now her goal is to score big in poker and today could be the start of something good as she looks very relaxed and focussed at the same time.

After The Break

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

After the break the EPT London live stream stars and the table that was selected has some interesting characters on it. Team PokerStars Pros Vicky Coren and Nacho Barbero will be joined by the aggressive German Ole Schemion and Belgian EPT regular Kenny Hallaert.

Make sure to keep an eye out for this table as the live stream will run until the end of the day.

Vamplew Runs into Flush

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

On the turn of a {J-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board, it was checked across to David Vamplew, one of several former EPT London winners who are playing today (Vicky Coren and Ruben Visser are also here). Vamplew bet 2,400 and the small blind called while the big blind folded.

The {10-Spades} came on the river and the small blind checked to Vamplew once more, though this time the young Scot checked back. It was just as well, his opponent turned over {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for the turned nut flush.

Volpe Doubles Through Nemeth

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We missed the action, but we do know that Paul Volpe doubled through Andras Nemeth just before the break.

With 8,000 or so in the pot and a board reading {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Volpe had check-raised all in for 17,100 and Nemeth thought long and hard before making the call. Volpe rolled over the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a straight, and a frustrated Nemeth sent his cards to the muck unseen.

Reijmer Overbets the River

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

When we arrived at the table, Dermot Blain checked to Daniel Reijmer on a flop of {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The Dutchman bet 500, and with two hands his Irish opponent check-raised to 1,250. Reijmer called.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}, bringing a heart flush draw and a potential straight, and the Full Tilt Poker Tour Ambassador led out for 1,900. Reijmer quickly called.

The {9-Diamonds} completed the board, and Blain slowed down, checking once more. Reijmer took the opportunity to bet, firing out 10,300 - an overbet - and Blain went deep into the tank. After nearly a minute, he pushed his cards into the muck, and the dealer shipped the pot Reijmer's way.

Robbie Bull Wins UKIPT London Main Event for £113,405

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Robbie Bull is the latest UKIPT champion!
Robbie Bull is the latest UKIPT champion!

It was a busy day in London on Sunday. Not only did the Season 10 European Poker Tour London Main Event kick off, but also Martin Finger took down the £50,000 Super High Roller for £821,000. Phil Hellmuth and Vanessa Selbst also collected titles, and with so many big names capturing the spotlight, it was easy to overlook the conclusion of the UKIPT London Main Event.

That tournament attracted 747 entries and created a prize pool of £724,590. After five days of play, 21-year-old Robbie Bull emerged victorious to capture the £113,405 first-place prize and become the third Scotsman in a row to win a UKIPT title (Ludovic Geilich won in Marbella and Alan Gold in Galway).

Bull began the final table sixth in chips, but he got off to a quick start. He ultimately made it to heads-up play against Irish Poker Open champ Ian Simpson.

Simpson began with a small lead over Bull, and the two opted to strike a deal. There was originally £53,475 in prize money between first and second place, but the two closed the gap. Simpson locked up £106,869.23, Bull received £103,405.77, and they played it out for the trophy and £10,000.

From there, Bull took over and pulled out to a huge chip lead. Simpson battled back, and after an hour of play held a 2-1 lead over Bull. After a break, Bull four-bet jammed with the {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Simpson called with the {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. The board ran out {j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Bull’s flush gave him the double.

Minutes later, Simpson raised to 375,000 and Bull three-bet all in. Simpson called off with the {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and it was ahead of Bull’s {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. The {j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop wasn’t very special, and while the {A-Diamonds} turn paired both players, Simpson’s kicker had him out in front. The {8-Diamonds} river actually gave Simpson two pair, but it was no good as Bull had spiked a flush to win the UKIPT London Main Event.

"It's a dream [to win] I've had for three or four years,” Bull told the PokerStars Blog after the win. “When I play a live event in the back of my mind there's ‘I might win it’ but now I feel like I'm dreaming and might wake up and find the UKIPT is next week.”

Robbie BullSweet jesus. Dream final table. Everything went my way. Can't think straight right now. Thanks for all the support and messages ya legends.
