The Sun Sets on Paris

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Bryan Paris, who won his way into this tournament via a live satellite, was just eliminated from the tournament.

It happened after he got his last 15,800 all in and was racing against Yingui Li.

Li: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Paris: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Paris was looking to crack the small pocket pair, but that proved easier said than done as the board ran out a low {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

"Good luck guys," Paris offered before taking his leave from the tournament.

Dayan Nearing 300,000

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

David Dayan opened for a raise in middle position and got called by Tony Gregg. Simon Higgins made it about 8,500 to go, and Dayan reraised to 23,400, folding out Gregg. Higgins called, and {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flopped. Dayan said he was all in, and Higgins thought only briefly before calling, about 70,000.

Dayan: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Higgins: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

Higgins was in awful shape, and he didn't find another jack. After the hand, Gregg said he folded queen-jack as well.

O'Dwyer Doubles Through Gu

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Steve O'Dwyer had all of his chips, 73,200, in the middle on a {4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop from the big blind. A player under the gun had 18,000 in front of him, and small blind Huidong Gu had put in 60,000. The under-the-gun player mucked, and Gu made a reluctant call.

Gu: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
O'Dwyer: {j-Spades}{7-Spades}

O'Dwyer just needed to fade an ace, and he did so as the {k-Diamonds} turn was followed by a {4-Diamonds} river.

Max Altergott New Chip Leader

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Max Altergott
Max Altergott

Max Altergott had bet 8,400 on a board of {7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades} with roughly 19,000 already in the pot. Bryn Kenney called and then Ryan Julius moved all in. Altergott thought for a few minutes before moving all in himself, leaving Kenney in a difficult position.

"It's so brutal, I have to see a board runout no matter what," said Kenney before calling off for roughly 100,000.

Altergott: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Julius: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Kenney: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Both the turn and river blanked, and Altergott scored the double knockout and vaulted into the chip lead. It was doubly bad for Julius who had only rebought at the beginning of the level.

River Decision for Leonard Deep into the Break

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There's always one hand that goes straight into the break, with players filing out from other tables drawn to it to rail the action. In this particular pot Artur Koren had put Patrick Leonard all-in on a board of {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

"So big on every street," deliberated Leonard as he passed his remaining stack of chips from hand to hand, "So big on the turn."

It was nearly eight minutes into the break when Koren asked if he could leave the table. The dealer said no and Koren then asked for the clock.

"I don't want the clock because I don't want to hear the countdown," said Leonard, still contemplating his options with a pained look on his face, "If I hear the countdown I'll call."

The minute elapsed, Leonard's hand was declared dead and Koren scooped the pot.

"I've got to go to the loo," said Koren, dashing from the tournament room nearly ten minutes after all the other players.
