Sidhu Busts in Three-Way Pot

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Kully Sidhu
Kully Sidhu

Kuljinder Sidhu moved all in for his last 23,400 chips and Senh Ung called in the small blind, so did Emil Ekvardt in the big blind. They checked down the board {J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Ung announced ace-high before flipping over {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Ekvardt had that beat with {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Sidhu joined the rail with {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

Govert Metaal is also not in the High Roller tournament anymore either.

Is that a Needle?

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Juah Helppi fired 21,000 out of the big blind on the turn {2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Martin Finger immediately shot out of his chair. "So sick," the German said and then asked to see the stack of his opponent. Finger eventually folded and while Helppi raked in the pot, he took off his glasses and smiled over: "Maybe one day you will win a hand."

Wheeler Rides Again

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Jason Wheeler just picked up a little breathing room in his effort to make a third High Roller final table in a row here at EPT Malta.

Wheeler got all of Craig Varnell's relatively short stack, getting him all in preflop with {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} versus Varnell's {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and avoiding disaster on a board of bricks.

Gu is Gone

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Bryn Kenney - Huidong Gu
Bryn Kenney - Huidong Gu

Byron Kaverman raised from the button and called the shove of short stack Huidong Gu out of the big blind with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Gu was ahead preflop with the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}, but the devastating flop {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} left him drawing dead already. Gu nodded and then took his belongings while the dealer burned and turned the {5-Hearts} and {6-Clubs} as last two community cards.

Ekvardt Busts Chen

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Andrew Chen
Andrew Chen

Andrew Chen raised from early position and was called two ways, by Emil Ekvardt on the button and Jussin Nevanlinna in the big blind. On the turn of a {K-}{9-}{5-}{Q-} board, Chen jammed with {K-}{Q-} for top two pair only for Ekvardt to look him up with a set of nines. The remaining kings and queens in the deck didn't come to the rescue of Chen and he headed to the rail.

Big Stacks Tangle

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Sylvain Loosli
Sylvain Loosli

Three healthy looking stacks sat behind each of Juha Helppi, Sylvain Loosli and Martin finger as they tangled in a pot moments ago.

On a {3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Spades}{9-Clubs} board to the turn, Helppi bet 37,000 into the 70,000-chip pot and Loosli called.

Finger folded, and Helppi joined Loosli in checking the {5-Spades} river. Loosli showed {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Helppi mucked, giving Loosli the biggest stack of the three going forward.

What's up, Jason?

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier has spent a rather quiet day at the tables so far and lost a bunch of chips compared to what he started with while Elliot Smith has ran out of chips. On Mercier's table, Bryn Kenney is dominating most of the action and just raised to 7,000 from under the gun.

Raoul Refos was the sole caller from one seat over and they headed to the flop {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Kenney continued for 11,000 and was called before firing the {4-Diamonds} turn for 17,000. Again Refos called and the {4-Clubs} river completed the flush draw of the flop. Kenney jammed and the Dutchman eventually tossed his cards in the muck.

A Look at the Shorter Stacks

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

[Removed:17] defended his small blind against Joao Vieira and eventually gave up on the river of a {3-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades} board after checking and then facing a bet worth 15,200 by Vieira.

Andrew Chen took a different line and just shoved into a 6,000-raise by Jussi Nevanlinna to scoop the pot and several other well known pros will be forced to do the same soon, too.

Chidwick Collects Chips

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Iacopo Brandi raised to 6,000 and Stephen Chidwick jammed for 66,600 from the button, enforcing folds all around to claim the pot. The EPT regular is still short but it's just over once the last chip is gone.

Vieira Triples in Three-Way All In

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira

Joao Vieira pushed for his last 16,200 from the cutoff and Joni Jouhkimainen moved all in from the button for far more. The action folded to Huidong Gu in the big blind and he called the two all ins with the biggest stack.

Vieira: {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Jouhkimainen: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Gu: {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} to give Vieira a triple up and Jouhkimainen doubled up his additional 61,500 chips through Gu.
