Sofia Lövgren, at an earlier EPT event

Sweden's Sofia Lövgren's starting stack of 30,000 has been reduced to just 6,000. According to Lövgren, she saw a multi-way pot with {5-}{3-}. The flop {A-}{6-}{2-}, with one heart, got checked around. The turn was the {4-Hearts}. Lövgren's opponent bet 2,000, she raised to 4,800, and her opponent called. On the {7-Hearts} river, Lövgren's opponent bet 10,000, and she called it off.

Unfortunately for Lövgren, her opponent had rivered a backdoor flush, decimating her stack in the process.

Lövgren is playing in the secondary room, where the following notables also took their seats.

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Thomas Berg three-bet to 1,025 on the button. Francesco Cordua four-bet to 2,550 from the big blind, and Berg called. Berg instantly called a 2,850 bet on the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and a 5,100 bet on the {2-Spades} turn.

On the {5-Diamonds} river, Cordua bet 7,100. Berg snap-decided once again, this time by folding.

Fatima Moreira de Melo Starting Strongly

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

With the board reading {j-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs} Fatima Moreira de Melo bet 1,925 into a pot of just over 1,500. Her opponent thought for a while before calling.

"Nuts!" said a player at her table speculatively, before the Dutch player showed her cards. She turned over {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a set of jacks, which wasn't the nuts, but it was good enough to take down the pot.

Vanessa Selbst

"You have to report this hand!" says Shyam Srinivasan, gesturing towards Gaelle Baumann's stack which had doubled from her starting stack of 30,000.

According to the table, Baumann had raised to 300 from early position, and Vanessa Selbst three-bet to 1,000 from the small blind. The big blind called before Baumann four-bet to 3,700. Selbst called and the big blind got out of the way.

The flop was {j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} and Selbst checked to Baumann who bet 2,700. Selbst then check-raised her opponent to 7,200 and Baumann called.

The turn was the {a-Spades} and Selbst checked. Baumann bet 6,500 and Selbst went into the tank. After roughly four minutes of tanking, Selbst announced all in and Baumann snap called.

Selbst turned over {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for king-high with a gutshot, but was crushed by Baumann who had turned top set with pocket aces. The river was the {8-Clubs} and Selbst was eliminated.

Michael Song Lucky with the Ladies

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

"Oh come on!" exclaimed Michael Song, turning over Queens in the big blind after receiving a walk. Such is the scale of Day 1b of the Main Event, that there are 28 tables situated in a completely separate room from the main tournament area.

In the next hand he saw a flop of {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and both Song and the two other players checked. The turn was the {5-Diamonds}. It checked to Song who bet 600 and he got one callers.

"King!" said Song as the river was dealt, but it was the {3-Clubs}. The two remaining players checked. Song's opponent turned over {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} but Song had been dealt pocket queens {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} again, and he raked in this early pot.
