Jordan Kaplan Doubles Through Jaroslaw Sikora

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Jordan Kaplan, who finished 5th in the €2,000 Estrellas High Roller here at the Casino Barcelona, signed up before the start of Day 2 and has now tripled up since.

Kaplan raised to 4,000 from under the gun and the button called, as did Jaroslaw Sikora in big blind. The flop came {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Sikora checked. Kaplan bet 5,600 and the button folded, Sikora called. On the {Q-Hearts} turn, Sikora checked, Kaplan bet 13,400 and then called all in when Sikora check-raised to put himself at risk.

Kaplan: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Sikora: {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The {5-Clubs} river was a blank and Kaplan doubled for 36,600.

Palma Finds a Double

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

According to Nicholas Palma, he just doubled, but not without sweat. Francois Billard raised to 3,700 and Palma then three-bet to 10,200 from one seat over. Behind him, [Removed:146] reraised all in for 55,000 and Billard folded, Palma called all in for 45,500 with pocket tens.

Guerfi held {A-Spades}{K-} and the {10-}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} flop gave Palma top set. On the {7-Spades} turn, Guerfi picked up a flush draw, but another {8-} on the river completed the full house.

Van der Peijl Sees Through Marquez

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Appleby vs Guerrero

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Simon Appleby raised to 3,500 from the hijack and Jimmy Guerrero, who finished 3rd at the EPT12 Grand Final for a payday of € 406,850, three-bet to 10,700 out of the small blind. Appleby called and the flop came {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Guerrero checked, Appleby bet and forced a quick fold.

The Brit laughed and said "you had me worried a bit there." Both players are up in chips from the start of the day, but it's a long way for Guerrero to better the result of his last EPT Main Event.

Holozlu Shows His Quality

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Until a few minutes ago, Raffaele Castro was chip leader, but he isn't any more after a dramatic hand with Alisan Holozlu. Castro made the opening raise to 9,000 and Holozlu three-bet to 21,600. Castro called, and the two men saw a flop of {5-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} . Holozlu led for 16,000 and Castro called.

The turn of {Q-Diamonds} saw Holo check. Castro paused before doing so to give his opponent a stare-down, which could easily have looked imposing, coming as it did from behind so many chips.

"You have King-King, yeah? I check."

The river of a {K-Spades} gave both players a decision. Holozlu moved all-in for 57,800! Castro now looked in some anguish, and asked if Holozlu would show if he folded.

"If you ask me after the hand...I'll show you. I'll show you one."

Castro folded his hand.

"You want to see?" asked Holozlu? Without receiving an answer, he turned over {J-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and a friendly discussion about the hand broke out between the two men.

"I just nearly cost myself five thousand." said Holozlu. Instead, he's nearly doubled his stack. Castro has lost the chip lead, down to still imperious 289,500 chips.

Sharonov Drops Some

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Santiago Parra Garcia moved all in for his last 13,100 from the hijack and Day 1b chip leader Andrey Sharonov asked for a count. He then called out of the big blind and the cards were tabled.

Parra Garcia: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Sharonov: {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop brought no help just yet, but the {10-Clubs} turn now gave Sharonov flush draw and he pointed at his cards. It was the {7-Spades} river that gave Parra Garcia a double and Sharonov dropped some chips, but remains among the big stacks.

Lampropulos vs Einert

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Maria Lampropulos checked the {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop out of the big blind and Benjamin Einert bet 4,200 before Lampropulos check-raised to 11,500. Einert called and both players checked the {7-Diamonds} on the turn. After the {5-Spades} river, Lampropulos bet 22,000 and that was good enough to claim the pot uncontested.

Fellow Finn Kimmo Kurko, who finished 2nd at the EPT10 Barcelona Main Event, check-called a bet worth 6,000 on the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} turn by Elcio Luiz Romao and both then checked the {6-Diamonds} river. Romao showed the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} and Kurko mucked.
