Overbet Gets the Job Done for Ilyukhin

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

On a river of {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Hearts} Victor Ilyukhin made a huge overbet to 51,500 and ended up getting called by Rasmus Agerskov. Ilyukhin tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Agerskov went to muck his cards. "Doesn't he have to show?" asked Ilyukhin, but the dealer said no. The confusion was that Ilyukhin hadn't actually gone all-in, so Agerskov was perfectly at liberty to muck his cards. With that Ilyukhin moved up to over 100,000 in chips, with Agerskov dropping back to starting stack

Thomas Busts to Aliyev

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Julian Thomas has been spotted on the rail and the German reported his bustout as follows. Kamran Aliyev opened from the hijack and Artem Litvinov called, as did Thomas in the small blind. On the flop {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} both players checked and the {7-Diamonds} turn saw a bet of 1,000 by Thomas. Aliyev raised to 3,500 and the German pushed for 7,000 more once Litvinov had folded.

Aliyev was apparently afraid of pocket jacks as per table chat after the showdown and then called with the {7-Spades}{8-Spades} for trips sevens while Thomas had queen-jack for top pair only and the river bricked.

Palumbo Busted; Daly No More

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

For only three big blinds, Rocco Palumbo was all in while Vebjorn Monstad and Joao Vieira played for a far bigger side pot. Apparently there was a check-raise from 4,000 to 10,000 on the {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} turn and Monstad then pushed the {8-Spades} river for 25,875. Vieira was unsure what to do and eventually folded after getting the exact count.

Palumbo mucked his {Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Monstad flipped over the {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for a pair of fours only.

John Daly was also sent to the rail not long ago after losing a flip with ace-king to the pocket tens of Luca Pagano.

Jason Mercier Chips Up

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

On a river of {2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Jason Mercier had re-raised his opponent Mikko Turtiainen's bet of 12,500 all-in for Mercier's remaining 27,650. Turtiainen had Mercier covered, but only barely, and he was deep in thought for several minutes.

The clock was eventually called and Turtiainen used nearly all of it, before eventually releasing his hand. Mercier moved up to nearly double starting stack with this hand.

Pirmamod Busts to Monstad

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Vebjorn Monstad raised to 800 and Nasrodin Pirmamod then shoved for what looked like 8,000 from one seat over. The Norwegian asked his opponent what he had and Pirmamod replied "four and five" with his French accent. "I am pretty good against four and five," Monstad replied and then made the call for one third of his stack.

Pirmamod: {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Monstad: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The Frenchman improved on the {J-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop and the {9-Diamonds} turn blanked, however the {6-Diamonds} river gave Monstad a set and sent Pirmamod to the rail.

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Anthony Zinno just took down a pot on the {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} turn by betting 8,000 and his opponent claimed to fold the winning hand while Zinno insisted to have him beat.

Natasha Barbour "sent" some chips involuntarily to table neighbor Mike Watson with the Canadian being down to 10,000 not long ago and Kyle Frey won a small three-way pot against Walid Bou Habib.

Silver Eliminated

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Max Silver lost his shorter stack to Luca Pagano while fellow High Rollers Joao Vieira, Jason Mercier and Charlie Carrel are still in. Carrel busted in third place in the 25k some time ago and jumped straight into the Main Event while Chartier is riding a short stack.

Tamasauskas from Hero to Zero

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

On the {K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts} turn, Piotr Franczak check-called a bet of 3,075 by Vladas Tamasauskas and then faced the shove of his opponent for 11,850 on the {3-Diamonds} river. Franczak eventually called and was shown {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} by Tamasauskas for the nut flush, Franczak had 300 chips left.

Two hands later, the Pole was all in for 250 chips when Francisco Gordillo had raised to 775. Jean-Noel Thorel called in the small blind and Tamasauskas then squeezed to 2,800. Gordillo and Thorel both called and they saw the flop {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Thorel check-called a bet of 3,300 whereas Gordillo folded.

On the {J-Clubs} turn, Thorel check-called a bet of 5,750 before Tamasauskas emptied the clip on the {5-Spades} river by shoving for 20,300. Thorel had checked and wasted little time before making the call. Tamasauskas sheepishly turned over {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for complete air while Thorel had the {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for top pair and top kicker. Franczak also hit the rail with his {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and the Lithuanian went from hero to zero in five minutes.
