Chobineh With the Sandwich Angle

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Bahram Chobineh raised to 300 and Ahmed Abd El Fatah three-bet to 1,100. Chobineh called and the flop came {2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Chobineh checked and El Fatah bet 1,500. Chobineh check-raised to 11,500 and El Fatah called.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Chobineh moved all in for around 19,000. El Fatah stood up with his hands on his head. Chobineh dug around in his bag and picked out a sandwich.

"I have a sandwich," he said, waggling it in the face of El Fatah, "We can share it if you like."

Whatever the intended consequence, El Fatah eventually slammed his remaining 17,000 chips in the middle and called. Chobineh turned over {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for two pair and was ahead of the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} of El Fatah.

The river was the {8-Spades} and El Fatah was eliminated.

"You can still re-enter," reminded Chobineh helpfully, who is now sat on over double starting stack.

Soltanov Jams Up Stack Early On

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

While Kalidou Sow has lost almost half of his stack early on, Mikhail Soltanov one table over managed to almost double after taking on French online qualifier Samuel Kiourktchian in a big pot. The turn showed {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Soltanov bet 3,300 out of the big blind. Kiourktchian raised to 7,000 and Soltanov called.

On the {2-Clubs} turn, Soltanov once more bet, making it 3,000 to go, and Kiourktchian raised it up to 7,000. Soltanov wasted little time before moving all in and that forced an instant fold.

The table also features Beatrice Alisauskaite, Hiroyuki Noda and Gavin O'Rourke.

Lai and Butba Go to War Early on

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Anson Tsang took a decent chunk out of the stack of Ekrem Sanioglu and one table over, Eric Lai did the same with Said Butba.

Lai's bet of 6,000 on the river of a completed board of {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} was called by Butba, who couldn't beat the {A-Spades}{5-Spades} of the Frenchman. One hand later, Lai opened to 300 and Butba three-bet to 1,100, Lai called. On the {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, Lai checked and Butba claimed back some of the losses when forcing a fold with a bet of 2,000.

Back to Tsang's table, Pierre Calamusa had sat down and was about to get his chips. The dealer checked his ticket and informed him that he was in fact one table over. "Nice playing with you," another player at the table joked while Calamusa grabbed his belongings and headed to the correct seat.

Kolonias Back for More Glory in Monte-Carlo

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Two years ago at the 2016 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo©Casino EPT festival here at Le Sporting, Alexandros Kolonias recorded his best-ever score after finishing second to Alexandru Papazian in the €25,750 High Roller and claimed a payday of €805,900. Kolonias was back in his seat just now and raised it up early on to 300, picking up a single caller in the big blind.

Both checked the {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop and a bet of 300 by Kolonias on the {6-Clubs} turn won the pot. Right after the hand was over, Michal Mrakes, Saar Wilf and Yehoram Houri sat down at the very same table while Julien Sitbon took a seat one table over. Mrakes comes full of confidence after yet another deep run, as the Czech finished 5th in the €1,100 National Championship last evening for a payday of €57,840.
