Kerignard Takes from Freund

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Andreas Freund raised it up first to act and was called by Yorane Kerignard on the dead button. On a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, both players checked and Freund bet the {2-Diamonds} turn for 2,600, Kerignard called. The {10-Spades} river paired the board and Freund checked. Kerignard over-bet for 17,400 and Freund called once the clock had been called on him.

Kerignard rolled over {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for trips tens and that was enough to rake in a decent pot.

Close Race for the Lead

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Maxim Panyak, Laurent Patroni and Aleksandr Sheshukov appear to be the current chip leaders, the latter had knocked out two opponents when his ace-seven got there to beat jacks and eights. And another player may take a stab at the overnight spotlight, as Gary Miller, known to be very aggressive at the tables, has turned up the three-betting machine.

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

After winning the €100,000 Super High Roller yesterday for €1,520,000, it was back to earth with a bump for Sam Greenwood who has just bubbled the €50,000 Single Day High Roller.

Greenwood entered the Main Event with two levels left in the day, along with the re-entering Benny Glaser who explained ashen-faced how he had lost out kings into aces (and jacks) for "all the chips." He has two levels to grow his 30,000 stack once more.

Two Short Stacks Collide

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Kamel Amrane, who had won his entry to the €5,300 Main Event in a live satellite here in Monaco, was all in and at risk from the small blind for 9,100. In the big blind, PokerStars online qualifier Jens Vinther looked him up and the duo tabled the following cards.

Kamel Amrane: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Jens Vinther: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The board came {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and the kicker played a crucial role to let Amrane double, leaving Vinther with a mountain to climb on an even short stack.

Sammartino Suddenly Among Big Stacks

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Dario Sammartino was all smiles after he dragged in a pot while sending Gerard Ohresser to the rail and the board of {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} was all but rushed away. Ohresser's cards were already in the muck and Sammartino had {K-Spades}{10-Spades} for the flopped nut straight tabled. According to other players at the table, Ohresser had gotten his chips in with ace-king for top pair only to find out that he was doomed indeed.

Fatima Moreira De Melo
Fatima Moreira De Melo

The player from under the gun limped and Moreira de Melo raised to 2,700. Massou Cohen called in the hijack and the limper came along too.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and the limper checked to Moreira de Melo who bet 3,000. Both players called.

The turn was the {6-Spades}. Again it checked to Moreira de Melo who bet 4,100. Cohen snap-called and the limper folded.

The pair checked the {j-Spades} river and Cohen showed {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, but lost out to the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} of his opponent.

Schemion Sends Dodelande to the Rail

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Ole Schemion raised to 2,000 in the hijack. Alexis Fleur three-bet in the small blind to 6,300 and Kevin Dodelande flat-called in the big blind. Schemion then four-bet to 17,500. Fleur folded and Dodelande moved all in. Schemion snap-called.

Ole Schemion: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Kevin Dodelande: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

There was a king on the {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, but no further help on the {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} run-out and Dodelande was eliminated.

Schemion now sits on just under 100,000 in chips.
