Refos Eliminated by Lyubovetskiy

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With a sizable pot already built preflop, Andriy Lyubovetskiy and Raoul Refos saw a flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

After Refos led for 18,000 in the small blind, Lyubovetskiy slid forward enough blue T-5,000 chips from the button to potentially put Refos all-in.

Refos then slid forward his entire stack of time bank cards as he pondered his decision.

Ultimately he made the call and was then asking the dealer to "please hold"

Raoul Refos: {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Andriy Lyubovetskiy: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Refos' top pair was ahead, but Lyubovetskiy had plenty of outs with overcards and hearts.

The turn {a-Diamonds} was safe for Refos, but the {a-Hearts} was not, sending him out the door.

Marques Doubles Through Countryman

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Andre Moreira Marques was collecting a double up with the {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} showing on a board of {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the flush.

It bested the {a-}{j-} top pair of fellow Portuguese player Sergio Coutinho who had to give away a large portion of his stack across the table.

Burtin Grabs a Double; Enselme Gone

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Nicholas Burtin doubled up with a set of jacks as he had the {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} on a board of {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

Francois Pirault had the {a-}{7-} and was the one who was cutting away his chips to send over to Burtin.

Shortly after that, Arnaud Enselme was not as fortunate as his fellow Frenchman as he was eliminated at the same table.

Rudolph Folds Straight

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action arrived on the river with the wet board reading the {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. From the small blind, Mauricio Pais bet 55,000 into a pot of about 80,000, leaving himself only 1,000 behind.

Christian Rudolph was in the big blind and went into the tank. He used up two time banks while studying the paired and three to a flush board before standing up and laying down the high straight {k-}{10-} off-suit red cards, face up.

Pais did not show and took in the pot. Rudolph continued to watch Pais after the hand who was smiling and looking pleased with Rudolph's decision.

"You look pretty happy" said Rudolph. "It was a good fold" said Pais simply while smiling as he collected the pot.

Huge Flip Leaves Nguyen on Fumes, Eliminated Soon After

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Thi Nguyen
Thi Nguyen

Juan Pardo opened to 8,000 in early position, and Badre Al Ghouch called on the button. Thi Xoa Nguyen then three-bet squeezed from the big blind for 36,000. Pardo four-bet all in for a stack of about 180,000 which was just covered by Nguyen.

Al Ghouch folded and Nguyen called.

Juan Pardo: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Thi Xoa Nguyen: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

A king in the window of the {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop brought Nguyen's participation in the tournament into jeopardy, and the {3-Clubs} turn and {4-Clubs} brought no help.

Nguyen was left with just 15,000 chips, and she was eliminated soon after in hugely disappointing fashion after starting the day with the third largest stack at the end of Day 1.
