With a little less than eight minutes remaining in Level 17, play finally concluded in Day 1b of the €1,100 Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event, which is part of the PokerStars and Barcelona©Casino European Poker Tour.

After the first flight of the day received a total of 812 entrants, the second flight, which was played with shorter 30-minute levels, drew a total of 358 entries. In both instances, the field was played down to the final 15 percent of the field, which equated to 54 players from the second field, which will join the 121 from Day 1a.

Following a day full of fast and exciting action, players came back from their break to Level 17, when they had only four players left until the bubble burst with an average stack of around 30 big blinds. With the imminent money bubble approaching, play grinded to a snail's pace, especially after play went hand-for-hand. On the fourth all-in hand, Pieter Theelen that eliminated Andrei Konopelko.

When players bagged and a chip leader could finally be determined, it was Stefan Drusca who was on top of the mountain, putting 513,000 chips into his bag for Day 2.

Not far behind and dominating the later parts of the day was Jean Lhuillier (465,000) and Jack Hardcastle (441,000), who will look to turn their stacks into riches in the coming days. Maher Nouira and Victor Caballero Pinna round out the top-five.

Theelen Eliminates Konopelko to Burst Bubble

blaisebourgeois • Level 17: Blinds 3,000-6,000, 6,000 ante

Pieter Theelen opened for 12,000 from the cutoff and Andrei Konopelko shoved his final 61,000 from the button. Theelen called and,
after every table completed their hand and a crowd formed, the two put their cards on their backs.

Andrei Konopelko: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Pieter Theelen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Much to his surprise, Konopelko was dominated and needed a lot of help to stay alive.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts}, which was little help to Konopelko as he only had queens, a backdoor flush draw, and a backdoor straight draw going for him.

The {a-Spades} limited the Belarusian to just a jack for a straight.

The river was the {6-Diamonds}, eliminating the player and the remaining 54 players applauded as they all made the money and qualified for Day 2.

Break

blaisebourgeois • Level 16: Blinds 2,000-5,000, 5,000 ante

Players are now on a 15-minute break, which will undoubtedly be their last break of the night with 58 players remaining and 54 players making the money.

Severino Doubles Up on the Money Bubble

blaisebourgeois • Level 16: Blinds 2,000-5,000, 5,000 ante

There are just 60 players remaining in the field, with the top 54 making the money and qualifying for Day 2.

Nearing the stone bubble, Jose Severino shoved his remaining 34,500 from middle position and was called by Jean Lhuillier from the hijack.

Jose Severino: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Jean Lhuillier: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The Panamanian was in phenomenal shape to double up and the {6-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop was a great start.

However, the {10-Diamonds} caused a sweat as Lhuillier could now win with a jack or chop with a seven.

However, the {2-Clubs} arrived on the river and Severino enjoyed a spin up to 81,000.

Hardcastle Up to 300,000 After Latest Knockout

Jack Hardcastle

Ivan Kuziv shoved from the hijack for 49,000 and Jack Hardcastle called from the button.

Ivan Kuziv: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Jack Hardcastle: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Kuziv was completely dominated and would need some serious help. The {9-Hearts}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds} was very little help, though he was drawing to a ten for a straight.

The {7-Spades} took away one of Kuziv's tens and the {3-Clubs} river sealed his fate.

Barikro Goes Through Serious Swing Over Two Hands

blaisebourgeois • Level 16: Blinds 2,000-5,000, 5,000 ante

With 65,000 in the pot with the board reading {7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Spades}, Abdolrassol Barikro put out a bet of 40,000 from the hijack, which put serious pressure on Sondre Stormyr's stack.

After a couple of minutes, Stormyr, from the button, made the call and Barikro turned over {k-}{j-} for top two pair and the win.

The very next hand, Victor Caballero Pinna opened for 10,000 from middle position and Barikro made it 44,000 from the big blind. Pinna would take his time before moving all in for 133,500. Barikro called.

Victor Caballero Pinna: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Abdolrassol Barikro: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}

There was a whopping 273,000 chips in the middle and they were off to the races. The flop came {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} to give Pinna top pair and Barikro was drawing to two outs.

The {2-Diamonds} and {k-Spades} completed the board, doubling up the Spaniard while seeing Barikro's stack of over 300,000 melt down to 175,000.
