Wurtz Finds Out the Bad News

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Three-handed on a flop of 9K10, Daniel Esteban bet 7,500 and was called by Timo Scarcella in the hijack before Kasper Wurtz, in the cutoff, moved all in.

Esteban called for his last 24,200, while Scarcella got out of the way.

Daniel Esteban: QJ
Kasper Wurtz: AK

"I need some serious help," Wurtz said upon seeing Esteban's flopped straight. The 2 turn wasn't what he was looking for as Wurtz was already drawing dead heading to the K river.

"I was so afraid of queen-jack. I should've reraised big time," he added after paying off Esteban.

Umberto Zaffagnini

Serhii Kachynskyi opened to 1,200 in middle position and Emmanuel Wiss and Umberto Zaffagnini both called out of the blinds.

The flop of 7K9 checked through and Wiss led out for 2,500 on the 2 turn. Zaffagnini raised to 9,000 and Kachynskyi cold-called before Wiss also called.

Wiss checked on the 6 river and Zaffagnini bet a sizable 19,500. Kachynskyi gave it some thought and folded and Wiss followed suit, leading Zaffagnini to turn over Q10 for a stone bluff with queen-high.

One Lucky River, One Massive Cooler

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

With around 15,000 in the pot on a board of Q72K, Giulio D'Ambrosio got his last 20,000 in the middle against Jeroen Leuver.

D'Ambrosio had A10 for a straight draw and a flush draw, while Leuver showed AQ for a pair of queens. D'Ambrosio pleaded for the J, but the 6 that did fall was just as good as he completed his flush to double up.

At the same time at an adjacent table, Robin Groenlie was all in on a flop of 82Q and up against Janne Nevalainen.

Robin Groenlie: 88
Janne Nevalainen: QQ

Groenlie got his money in with a flopped set, but found out the bad news as Nevalainen showed him a higher set. The board ran out 310 and Groenlie was sent to the rail.

Six to a Flop, Welling on Top

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Gabriel De Melo in middle position raised to 2,400, Salim Alibas in the hijack called, as did the cutoff, Jeroen Welling on the button, and both the blinds.

It was six-ways to a flop that came 92K. The action checked to Alibas who took a stab for 6,500; only Welling called.

The 8 turn slowed down Alibas and Welling took the lead with a bet of 6,500. Alibas assured Welling he had nothing and tossed his cards to the muck.

Buruil Saved on the River

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Juan Ferrer opened to 2,500 from the cutoff, and was called in the small blind by Jerome Buruil.

The 8910 was checked by Buruil, before Ferrer bet out 3,000, which the Frenchman called.

Once again, Buruil made a check on the turn as the 2 landed. Ferrer bet out for 8,000 and was called instantly.

With a four-card straight on the board as the J river hit, Buruil checked a third time. Ferrer checked back and was disappointed to see his opponent rivered the nut straight, holding KQ having also had a flush draw on the turn.

Yarosh Can't Connect, Scattone Takes Most of His Stack

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Three-handed on a board of 3A94, Gregory Scattone moved all in for 8,000 from middle position before Aliaksandr Yarosh reshoved for 18,800 in the small blind.

Francesco Fortunato, who had both players well covered from under the gun, tanked for a minute before mucking. Scattone turned over AJ for a pair of aces, while Yarosh had KJ for a flush draw.

Yarosh stood up from his seat to await the river, which came the A and improved Scattone to trips. Yarosh sat back down and handed over the pot, leaving himself on an extreme short stack.

Mitrus Makes the Right Call

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

The pot stood at approximately 21,000 with two players looking at a board that read 42779.

Ji Zhang in early position bet enough to put his opponent, Alexandru Mitrus in the hijack, all in for what looked to be his last 16,500. Mitrus thought for some time before finally deciding to make the call for his tournament life.

Zhang tabled AJ while Mitrus held 66. Despite it being a small diamond, it was enough to win Mitrus this pot.
