Thorel Calls a Three-Bet

Level 9 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Before the hand was dealt, Mikalai Vaskaboinikau thought he was the big blind and put in the 6,000.

"That's a straddle," Kayhan Mokri joked.

"Maybe I raise. Raise in the dark," Vaskaboinikau replied before mucking.

Patrik Antonius then raised to 12,000 in early position before Sam Grafton, next to act, three-bet to 36,000. Jean-Noel Thorel called the reraise in middle position as action folded to Alejandro Lococo in the big blind who gave it some thought before mucking.

Antonius also folded as Grafton and Thorel went heads-up to the Q73 flop. Grafton slowed down and checked, and Thorel then tossed out a bet of 50,000. Grafton took one last peek at his cards before mucking.

Alejandro Lococo opened 14,000 in middle position before Mikalai Vaskaboinikau three-bet jammed next to act. The action quickly folded back to Lococo who asked for a count. After the dealer let him know it was 187,000 he made the call.

Mikalai Vaskaboinikau: A10
Alejandro Lococo: 77

It was a classic race but the A55 flop paired Vaskaboinikau's ace to give him the lead. The K turn and 2 river meant Vaskaboinikau could remain seated as he pulled in the pot.
