Caceres' Creativity Costs Him Against Joyce

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Philip Joyce
Philip Joyce

Marcelo Caceres and Philip Joyce were heads-up on a board of 10QK93 and around 20,000 in the middle when Caceres, in the small blind, moved all in for 16,100.

Joyce went into the tank for several minutes, constantly rechecking and recapping his cards. "Will you show if I fold," he asked Caceres.

"I don't think I can fold," Joyce muttered to himself before another player at the table called the clock. Joyce stood up from his seat and kneeled on his chair, leaning over the table, before he finally committed the chips.

Caceres showed Q2 for a pair of queens and Joyce turned over QQ for a set to send him to the rail. According to Ian Bradley at the table, Caceres had five-bet preflop then bet on the flop before both players checked the turn.

Kotyk Picks of the Triple Barrel

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

With about 3,000 in the middle, the flop read 883, and Ihor Kotyk check-called a bet of 800 from Wooseok Kim.

When the 7 hit the turn, Kotyk check-called once again, this time Kim's bet was 2,500.

The 7 double-paired the board, and Kotyk checked once more. Kim fired a bet of 6,500 and Kotyk took about 20 seconds before dropping a call.

Kim tabled K9 for king-high, and Kotyk rolled over A10 to drag the pot with ace-high.

Two Pairs For Hernandez

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

After an open by Ricardo Hernandez on the button to 600, Frederic Van der Mersch defended from the big blind.

The dealer revealed a flop of QQ10 where Hernandez c-bet 600. He was called once again, then both players checked on the river J.

Van der Mersch checked a third time, and went into the tank when Hernandez bet 1,200 chips. Van der Mersch eventually called but lost the hand against Hernandez's AJ.
